Class of 1957, a double build.
Lovefordgalaxie replied to Lovefordgalaxie's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Thanks!! I can't speak a word of German, only Portugues, some Italian that I got from my grandparents, and some Russian. I have 7 feline sons here in the house. I could never do a video without one of them being together. I have Svetlana for the last three months. Adopted her at my local petshop. She had being found inside a carboard box on a empty lot. She was three months old. Now she's getting huge!! Last year my cat Tripata passed away without any warning. He was a great companion and had being my uncle's before he passed in 2011. Tripata had only three legs due to an accident when he was a kitty, and was a healthy 17 year old cat, until his heart gave up, and he died on the way to the vet. I was in bad shape for at least six months after that, really depressed. People that don't have cats don't believe we can love them like sons. About three months ago, I went to the pet shop to get some special food for my other elder cat, Mitch that is 18 years old, and there the vet offered my if I wanted to adopt a kitten. She knew me well, and made me hold the kitten... Had to bring her home. Take a look at my Flickr album on my cats. https://www.flickr.com/photos/lovefordgalaxie/albums/72157625931252193 -

Ok guys, finished the basic painting on the interior of both models. Still have all detail paint to do, not to mention the foil work. The Fairlane engine bay already has the semi gloss black painted. Ok, some more slow progress. Polished the Chevrolet Cameo body, and installed the tailgate: Class of 1957 WIP. by Túlio Lazzaroni, on Flickr Class of 1957 WIP. by Túlio Lazzaroni, on Flickr Class of 1957 WIP. by Túlio Lazzaroni, on Flickr The polishing also revealed the "CAMEO" badge, that was foiled prior to painting. Class of 1957 WIP. by Túlio Lazzaroni, on Flickr Also started painting the Fairlane interior. The seats are now the basic color: Colonial white. The interior will be white and black, what I think to be the coolest factory available combo for the colors I used on the body. Class of 1957 WIP. by Túlio Lazzaroni, on Flickr No more seam on the side of the seats. On the Ford this is important, as the doors do open. Class of 1957 WIP. by Túlio Lazzaroni, on Flickr The chassis / floor pan is in primer. I'll shoot Ford red oxide primer on it, and then do the overspray with Inca Gold. The actual frame will be brush painted, as it is molded onto the floor pan. Class of 1957 WIP. by Túlio Lazzaroni, on Flickr Here are the engines in primer. Found a defect on the clutch cover of the Ford 312, so I'll have to fix that. Class of 1957 WIP. by Túlio Lazzaroni, on Flickr Class of 1957 WIP. by Túlio Lazzaroni, on Flickr Finally, the Chevy Cameo frame was assembled up to the maximum possible before painting, as this will make the glue joints on the leaf springs, tie rods, and rear end extra strong, and will require no touch up, like if I would add those parts after the frame had being painted. I want to get another of those Monogram Lincolns. Built one when I was a kid, with brush paint and lot's of glue, but remember they being really cool. Have a unbuilt Cord 312 I have to build someday.

Class of 1957, a double build.
Lovefordgalaxie replied to Lovefordgalaxie's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Thanks guys. My favorite color to paint any car is black, but that can get a little boring. I have four black 1957 Fords already. I'm sanding the seams on the engine, front seat, and closing some sink marks, like the ones on the lower part of the Ford splash pan. Also doing the same on the Chevy engine and rear end. Hope to have more parts painted during the week. -
My standard scale would be 1/12 if a model of the 1957 Ford Fairlane 500 Club Victoria, or Club Sedan were available, and it could be a simple kit, like the Monogram 1/12 '57 Bel Air. Have a huge fascination for '57 Fords since I was a kid about 7 years old. I saw one parked in front of my school, and I actually "escaped" to spend the afternoon in fascinated observation of all nuances of that very well kept Fairlane 500 Club Sedan. It was yellow and white, had a black and white interior, and had those amazing wide white wall tires, and miles of chrome. The fins!! oh boy, that fins... Now I know it was Inca Gold and Colonial White.

It looks great. Those cars have the feel of a truck when you stand next to one. They are huge. The engine note is pure music. And to say W.O. Bentley was not in favor of the blower...

I was in a dilemma. Really wanted to build another 1957 Ford, but also really wanted to build a 1957 Chevrolet Cameo. Couldn't decide, so... Yes, I'm building both. At the same time. The Ford is going to be a Fairlane 500 Club Victoria, painted in Inca Gold and Colonial white. The Cameo is going to be Onyx Black and Ivory. Both 100% factory stock, of course. The build itself started three weeks ago, with the usual bodywork to eliminate mold lines and defects like sink marks. That took three days, as I built the Chevy pick up box to paint it as a unit, and added some detail to the '57 Ford body. Those details were all inscribed body parts separation lines, like on the headlight doors, and front fenders. Just after that, I painted the white on both models, and let them sit about two and a half weeks, due to work issues. That ended being good, as I could mask the white without any worries about the tape to leave texture on the paint, as I had happened before with newly painted white bodies. By the way, the white is Tamiya TS-26 Pure white, that is a close match to Ford Colonial White, and even closer to GM Ivory. The Inca Gold on the Fairlane, and the Onyx Black on the Cameo are automotive synthetic enamel, so, both cars have lacquer and enamel paint, and believe-me, thei are not fighting to see who shines the best The day before yesterday, I painted the Inca Gold on the Ford, and yesterday I painted the Black on the Chevy. The Ford was dry enough to pull the tape this morning, and the Chevy is going on the same path. I just don't want to risk unmasking the inside of the bed just yet, as I'll have to put some force on the fresh black paint. Better wait till tomorrow... Woo Hoo! I finally built something. AMT 39 Ford Sedan
Lovefordgalaxie replied to pharoah's topic in Model Cars
Nice looking Ford. Great color. One just can't beat Tamiya paint. My AMT '40 Ford Tudor was also painted with Tamiya. -
That's a really nice Hudson!! Loved the colors. Foil work is great also.

1956 Henry Steel: Stock X Not so stock
Lovefordgalaxie replied to Lovefordgalaxie's topic in Model Cars
'37 Ford, a great looking car. It's a pitty this kit can't be built stock, only as a street rod. In fact, there is no factory stock '37 Ford kit that I know of. Once in a while I do a car that's not stock, but then, I only go for accessories and speed parts of the same vintage of the car. I'm quite a oddity among Brazilian builders. Most like the cars cars modified one way or the other, and with lot's of aftermarket parts, like photo etch kits, and sort. I like to build the cars factory stock, and box stock. -
Can't beat a white Galaxie with a red interior. Friend of mine has a Brazilian made '67 (for you, a '66) unrestored, unmolested, light gray with a red interior. I love when he brings me the car for a check up. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PNljcMy1mHY
-
But you love a '66 Galaxie, right??
-
Very nice Mustang. Revell Bullit kit? I'm into all years of Ford cars, and into 1950's and 1960's full size Fords and Chevrolets. Galaxies, Impalas, Fairlanes, Bel Airs, Mavericks, that's what I love. Never cared much for the supercar type of vehicle. By the way, your building is fenomenal. I looked at your Countach, and the job you did is amazing.

Yep, it is a matter of personal taste. The wheel wells of the Futura, with that continuous chrome trim going all the way on the side of the car, is one of my favorite features. The elimination of that and the wheel wells change is what you like about the redesign. If the Future were a real production car, maybe the alterations you like would be done on the following production year. I would be a fan of the first year, and you of the second year. For example, let's take a Ford car: I like the 1957 Fairlane a lot better than the 1958 version, that has a "heavy" front end, and a odd looking fake air intake on the hood. For me, Ford ruined the design for 1958. I like the 1957 Fairlane a lot better than I like the 1957 Bel Air. On Bel Airs, I like the 1956 better than the 1957 and 1955.
-
I don't think so. Specially the wide tires, the multitude of bat logos, that bat nonsense launchers on the back, the ugly grille, and the fake turbine exit. The car went from glamour, fine taste and sophistication to being something kids would find awesome. If it was a real production car, I would buy the Futura, and not the Batmobile. Nevertheless, like I said before, taste is like belly buttons, everybody has one.
-
Great!! Super well built, and a fantastic car. That car is class, and quality materialized. Really hard to beat (maybe a '59 Lincoln can do the trick)
-
Just LOVED it!! Don't worry, I have about 15 built 1957 Fords, so, no, you are not crazy (at least you are not alone if you are). The colors are great, and the foil work is very sharp, as usual. I like the '53 a lot more than the '54, and the only thing I would change is exactly replacing the wire wheels from the '54, in favor of the '53 wheel covers. Well, taste is like belly buttons. Everybody has its own.
-
The build quality is awesome!!! Something to be proud of. The car, I always thought to be butt ugly, like all Ferraris, and related supercars/exotics.
-
Great job! This concept is the best looking ever in my opinion. It was a great looking car until Barris ruined it. The color is just right for it, and it's great to see how this kit still builds into a nice replica.
