Little car show I went to. About 200 miles away from my city. Went with a friend. I drove my '74 Galaxie and he drove his '60 Thunderbird. Pomerode Car Show 2013 by Lovefordgalaxie, on Flickr V8s... 1959 Buick "Junior Craftsman" 8/15 More pics
Lovefordgalaxie replied to StevenGuthmiller's topic in Model Cars
They don't make them kits like that anymore. Or builders for the matter -
This is how the car looked like when I got it: Restoration Project by Lovefordgalaxie, on Flickr Restoration Project by Lovefordgalaxie, on Flickr Restoration Project by Lovefordgalaxie, on Flickr Restoration Project by Lovefordgalaxie, on Flickr During the resto: 1957 Ford Restoration Project by Lovefordgalaxie, on Flickr 1957 Ford Restoration Project by Lovefordgalaxie, on Flickr Restoration Project by Lovefordgalaxie, on Flickr Restoration Project by Lovefordgalaxie, on Flickr Restoration Project by Lovefordgalaxie, on Flickr

My favorite color is Coral Sand. If one is going for a stock '57 Custom, most of them, were single tone cars, being two tone more hard to find. Today it's just the opposite, as restorers like the two tone look. I had a picture of a custom that the guy made back in the day. The car was Cumberland Green from the factory, and the guy painted scalops in Willow Green over it. The effect was quite interesting.

No Dave, It's just the Tamiya Mica Red over a silver base. That paint has quite a lot of metallic particles on it.

Very close to Praire Bronze, the factory stock "gold" for 1965. Usually the interior was also gold, but a little more to the bronze side, or black, on praire gold cars.

Thanks, really appreciated!! But one of these days I'll have to go to the next level, and to start to scratch build details. For now, my concept of super detailed is a set of spark plug wires All in all, I'm following my uncle's advice. He told me: "perfect the best you can to build with what is inside the box, once you are satisfied with what you get this way, then try some fancy tricks".

Build them!!!! Old kits are not a synonymous of a poor model. yes, there are better kits for the Bel Air, and for the Corvette, but turning old kits into nice models is easy, and also very enjoyable!!! If you don't want them, heck, send them to me, i'll give you two Tamiya Mercedes and a Nissan Skyline have for them any time.

Thanks gentlemen Usually, I only love factory stock, but like I built so many '57 Ford kits, Saw nothing wrong with a Custom. Like Harry said, a Old School Custom, that's the only kind I like.

Old build, and box stock, with no added detail other than a pair of Brazilian licence plates. The paint is PPG automotive in Wimbledon White, the only color available for this car, a lightweight special version of the Fairlane 500. 1966 Fairlane 500 427 by Lovefordgalaxie, on Flickr 1966 Fairlane 500 427 by Lovefordgalaxie, on Flickr 1966 Fairlane 500 427 by Lovefordgalaxie, on Flickr 1966 Fairlane 500 427 by Lovefordgalaxie, on Flickr 1966 Fairlane 500 427 by Lovefordgalaxie, on Flickr 1966 Fairlane 500 427 by Lovefordgalaxie, on Flickr 1966 Fairlane 500 427 by Lovefordgalaxie, on Flickr 1966 Fairlane 500 427 by Lovefordgalaxie, on Flickr

Yes, you are 100% correct Scott. The very first time I posted this Ford, I said that the kit had wrong taillights, and thus was also missing a place for the rear licence plate. There are also no factory correct rear bumper supports, what is also a bummer. But, like I'm into box stock building, and only very (and when I say very, I really mean it) very rarely add any extra detail, I just left the kit the way it came. I only glued on the rear door a licence plate holder with a light, so the plate would have a place to be installed. Found the part in my parts box, and decided it was perfect for the job.

Another Old Build. Got this one as a built model for cheap. My intention was using it for parts, but decided to turn it into a custom. Another older build, of a really old kit, a annual 1962 AMT Customizing Series Galaxie Sunliner. Since the last time I posted it here, I made decals for the hood emblem, and the fender badges. Also made decals for the engine compartment. 1962 Ford Galaxie Sunliner by Lovefordgalaxie, on Flickr 1962 Ford Galaxie Sunliner by Lovefordgalaxie, on Flickr 1962 Ford Galaxie Sunliner by Lovefordgalaxie, on Flickr 1962 Ford Galaxie Sunliner by Lovefordgalaxie, on Flickr 1962 Ford Galaxie Sunliner by Lovefordgalaxie, on Flickr 1962 Ford Galaxie Sunliner by Lovefordgalaxie, on Flickr 1962 Ford Galaxie Sunliner by Lovefordgalaxie, on Flickr 1962 Ford Galaxie Sunliner by Lovefordgalaxie, on Flickr

Both kits built: The red car is the '66, and the golden car is the '65, that has a opening trunk. 1965 X 1966 by Lovefordgalaxie, on Flickr 1965 X 1966 by Lovefordgalaxie, on Flickr 1965 X 1966 by Lovefordgalaxie, on Flickr 1965 X 1966 by Lovefordgalaxie, on Flickr 1965 Ford Galaxie 500 XL by Lovefordgalaxie, on Flickr -
Thanks guys!! Will repost later for you OK? I took new pictures of her, along with a custom '57 and still have to upload them to Flickr.

Here is another old build to bore you guys. It's a 1940 Ford Sedan Delivery Deluxe, built from the AMT kit. The paint is Tamiya TS-11 Maroon, a perfect match for the FoMoCo color Mandarin Maroon. 1940 Ford Sedan Delivery Deluxe by Lovefordgalaxie, on Flickr 1940 Ford Sedan Delivery Deluxe by Lovefordgalaxie, on Flickr 1940 Ford Sedan Delivery Deluxe by Lovefordgalaxie, on Flickr 1940 Ford Sedan Delivery Deluxe by Lovefordgalaxie, on Flickr 1940 Ford Sedan Delivery Deluxe by Lovefordgalaxie, on Flickr 1940 Ford Sedan Delivery Deluxe by Lovefordgalaxie, on Flickr

Nicest looking car of the 1950s. The paint came out very nice and smooth, but yes, there are some colors off, and not only on the engine.

You got me with the GAZ-13.

Die cast shiny paint
Lovefordgalaxie replied to ERIK88's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I think the paint on some diecasts is in fact outstanding. I have a DM Edsel Bermuda that is for all purposes flawless. Even tough, quality was not constant. Have a '40 Ford that is less perfect than the Bermuda. When we talk about Franklin Mint, it's a totally different ball game, like you say in the U.S. I have a '32 Ford Three Window coupe from FM, and the paint has flat spots, some orange peel, and the wire wheels are not realistic at all. I was able to get a much better finish on a AMT Ford Vicky with Tamiya paints than the one Franklin Mint did. Now the main disadvantage of diecasts: You get them completed inside a Styrofoam box, with the typical authenticity papers and stuff. All you have to do is to look at it, and be amazed. Now, with a plastc kit, if you work hard, and take your time on research, you can make them to look as good as the top Dollar Mints, having a lot of fun on the process, and at the end, having something you put together, and that will always be a part of you. Another disadvantage: As diecasts get old, the metal alloy starts to degrade, and little bubbles start to appear on the finish. My '32 Ford from FM is affected. Plastic models, well stored, will last forever. -
That would look awesome... On my shelf

Real or Model #226 FINISHED EARLY!
Lovefordgalaxie replied to Harry P.'s topic in Real or Model? / Auto ID Quiz
Hey Harry, if it's in 1:1 scale, but not a genuine GT-40, it counts as a model right?
