Stick a fork in it, she's done. Finished and photographed this week. The body was painted with a 50-50 mix of Tamiya LP-21 Italian Red and LP-51 Pure Orange. The interior is flat black with custom mixed tan coloured seats. The carpeting was red embossing powder but it looked kinda magenta-pink so I painted over it with LP21. The wheels are Tamiya X-31 Titanium Gold tinted with X-7 Red. What I Learned: 1. 99% of the parts fit very well including the glass. 2. Super tight fit of the body to chassis. The instructions tell you that once attached it will be very difficult to remove. The dashboard and door panels are attached to the body, not the chassis on this kit. I broke the dashboard off during final assembly. See #3 3. Black CA glue to the rescue. There is a rubber content to the glue which allows for some flexibility when parts are under strain as with this kit. 4. There are 2 mounting holes inside the front end of the body where matching pins on the chassis frame are inserted first. The rear end is attached last. You really have to pull the body sides apart to get chassis in. There didn't seem to be any obvious connection points in the rear. See #5 5. Pretty sure I got all the parts snugged down and the chassis pushed up and in all the way, however parts of the frame in front of the rear wheels stick out below the body. In fact, I'm not convinced the wheels are the correct hight or perfectly centred in the wheel wells. It remain a mystery wrapped up in an enigma. :^] Have a great weekend!

I thought I would share my build process of the Revell of Germany Lancia Stratos WRC kit. I am fairly certain this is a reboxed Hasegawa kit. When I searched for reviews of this kit I found one common theme; good luck getting the body over the chassis. It is true, but more on that later. This kit has been in my stash for years and to be honest I'm not sure what caused my to pull it out and build it. I guess it was the challenge of doing all of those decals! This is a box stock build. I did not want to add any aftermarket parts or do any scratch building. The model is already finished but I wanted to share with all of you what I did and what I went through to get her completed. Lets look at the kit. Here is what I started with. The decal sheet. It is a big one! Why do model companies run the attachment point right into the part?!?! This took a little bit of clean up! These are the rear fender flares. Test fitting of the rear spoiler showed that there was a sizable gap. I added and shaped a shim to close the gap. I attached the rear fender flares and rear spoiler. I cleaned up the parts. I had to add some filler to dimples on the rear spoiler.

Hi. This Lancia 037 from Hasegawa was a great kit. Just difficult enough. I cut away the body to show the engine and added some Studio 27 detail parts. Pretty good fit for this model. Hi. I'm starting work on a Lancia 037, by Hasegawa. Actually, a pretty cool kit with engine detail. I'm working my way through the interior and the engine bay. Have some more pieces to add. And i have to say that everytime I take photos of work in progress I see flaws, like the seam on a transmission or exhaust. Wonder why I don't see it while I'm building. Could it be my fading eyesight! At any rate, these photos kind of keep you honest in terms of spotting flaws.

open the box on this old airfix kit just yesterday . but there was nearly nothing to it so its already done .. i painted it red and only added a few of the stickers . like if a privateer had owned it istead of a big team . anyway the stratos has always looked good to me and now i have one for the shelf . the wheels are from a Ferrari F40 painted yellow and the rears flipped but the center nut has been reglued to the back now front . well here it is . thats it hope you guys like it . its my second attempt with the airbrush and it turned out pretty good

Hello from Morristown NJ I always liked the Lancia Stratos and picked up a Hasegawa kit. But, it's curbside and I wanted to add an engine. First thing I did was to scribe and cut open the hatch Then I transplanted a Ferrari engine from a Fujima Dino kit - closest thing I could think of for a proper engine for the Stratos Next, added some seatbelts Really like the Alitalia livery on the car And here's the completed car with some Italian cousins, Fiat 131's

A nicely detailed, straightforward curbside kit that really captures the look and stance of the pugnacious original. Zero Paints colour matched Giallo Ginestra and 2K Clear Coat. Why not red? Because I nearly bought one of these in my mid-20s, until I discovered how much it would cost to insure (that and the fact that the "seller" didn't have ANY of the paperwork for the car, which worried me even more than the insurance). Still, it's one of the few models I've built of a car that there's any possibility of me owning, ever... Those of you who followed the build will know all about the paint; if you didn't, the clear coat solvent managed to leach the red dye from the bodyshell plastic right through the primer and the yellow base coat, and turned orange. This has been stripped, sealed with oxide paint sealer, and then primed and painted a second time. The only other tricky bit was getting the chassis inside the body shell, which is a "once and for all" deal, with some extreme flexing of the body required... bestest, M.
