anyone use upol spray can primer on models
-
I was in Harbor Freight and found 10oz cans of Iron Armor primer for $4.00 a can. They have a filler version and a sandable version. I bought one of each. I was wondering if anyone here has tried them. The only thing I've been able to do is prime a couple of plastic spoons. It seems to cover well but it feels a little grainy; not rough, but not smooth. I haven't had the chance to put any paint over it yet but I have a practice body that I hope to test it out on soon. Do any of you have any experience with this product?

I paint mostly with acrylics. Is there a specific component of acrylic primer which sets it apart from using, say a flat grey or flat white acrylic paint? Does anyone just prime with an acrylic (name your colour) flat coat before applying their acrylic colour coat? My apologies for being lazy. I guess I just need to do a spoon test to find out the answer to this question. I hope all of my fellow forum members are having a happy and restful holiday break.

I have run out of my Tamiya primer, and was wondering if it is any harm to use standard automotive primer. Im very new to this hobby so please don't kill me. Thanks

I tried to speed assemble this, I've seen where guys knock out a model to fill a contest category that is empty, how do they do it? I also wanted to paint something with the zinc chromate primer, and Rustoleum primer instead of the cliche flat black. I'm also spoiled with Tamiya, Fujimi, and now Aoshima quality. Instead of using up my allotment for pictures, showing my Fakebook post:

Hiya I'm new here and to modeling in general, and like many before me and after me i need help understanding the painting process, I have the Aoshima G-West Lancer Evolution kit and i started spraying today everything seems like it went off without a hitch however I was surprised to find the primer quite rough, and the base coat has a egg shell/satin finish, is this normal? Should these coats feel smooth to the touch? almost as smooth as the plastic itself? I also made the stupid mistake of using too much turpentine to remove errors i made in hand painting the window rubbers, some paint and primer, i believe, were removed during the process, will i have to re prime the blemish before adding more coats of base paint? Setup Spraying outdoors "no booth" Tamiya TS-13 base and light grey plastic primer. Thanks in advance Regards Scary

Hello everyone, I am a newbie to this hobby and I am unsure what areas to spray primer for my Revell Dodge Viper acr... It has a opening trunk and engine, so should I spray the body and the interior, engine parts, the wheels, small parts and the underbody as well? (should I just spray everything with primer?) Any help would be appreciated. :) Thanks!
