Joe Handley Posted March 17, 2015 Posted March 17, 2015 There's a belief I've heard, and I hold it to be true. This generation isn't more stupid than any other before it: it's just amplified and shown to the world more by the Internet. My thoughts exactly!
Lownslow Posted March 17, 2015 Posted March 17, 2015 (edited) Good for you !! You'll have to spend every cent you make flipping burgers or changing oil for buying tires every week, but good for you !! Never EVER let some old geezer's "views" about the real-world engineering of vehicle dynamics and handling interfere with your right to express your follow-the-idiot-herd look-at-me suspension setup ideas. I work in a machine shop and do CAD design, try again. Dont under estimate the intelligence of youth, got a problem with the scene then buy them a muscle car at your own expense. Ace-Garageguy Posted March 17, 2015 Posted March 17, 2015 Dont under estimate the intelligence of youth... No need to underestimate it. It's pretty self-evident.
chunkypeanutbutter Posted March 17, 2015 Posted March 17, 2015 "pretty self-evident" *cough* http://www.parentdish.com/2011/03/30/aspergers-syndrome/ *cough*
Ace-Garageguy Posted March 17, 2015 Posted March 17, 2015 ... got a problem with the scene then buy them a muscle car at your own expense. What do muscle cars have to do with anything? All old soon-to-be-dead geezers are into muscle cars I guess? All the hot-rods I build for a living, and all the sports cars I build for myself...and even my old beater truck...will outhandle any of the silly "stanced" crapp with stupidly excessive negative camber. But it's okay. You guys want cars that destroy tires instantly and won't stop or corner...fine by me.
chunkypeanutbutter Posted March 17, 2015 Posted March 17, 2015 Isn't it just mind-boggling to even think about the simple action of steering in a stanced car? It seems impossible from looking at pictures.
Ace-Garageguy Posted March 17, 2015 Posted March 17, 2015 "pretty self-evident" *cough* http://www.parentdish.com/2011/03/30/aspergers-syndrome/ *cough* Yeah, and like, how many of him are there for every one of these? Don't get me wrong though. My generation isn't any smarter. Who do you think made the horrific mess the world is in today, anyway? My generation of short-sighted hypocrites, that's who.
Ace-Garageguy Posted March 17, 2015 Posted March 17, 2015 (edited) And you guys made this I don't think we (baby boomers...god I hate that term) really can take credit for that, any more than we can take credit for transistors, early computers or the real space program. That was all the generation before us. But this fella probably did more to change the world...well, sorta...than anyone since the Manhattan Project guys. Edited March 17, 2015 by Ace-Garageguy
Zarana-X Posted March 17, 2015 Posted March 17, 2015 I guess I was too subtle in suggesting the topic had been derailed.
mike 51 Posted March 17, 2015 Posted March 17, 2015 I guess I was too subtle in suggesting the topic had been derailed. as subtle as a train wreck? The thread did wander a bit...
Monty Posted March 17, 2015 Posted March 17, 2015 I guess I was too subtle in suggesting the topic had been derailed. Eh, I'm pretty sure everyone understood your intent. I just decided to use your pic for my own purpose.
Atmobil Posted March 17, 2015 Posted March 17, 2015 I don't think that inteligense is a part of it, it is all about different types of interests and tastes. Like some guys like fat girls and some guys like....guys. It's not wrong and it is not stupid, it is just different.
lordairgtar Posted March 17, 2015 Posted March 17, 2015 Kudos to you, Atmobil. You know how the world works. Myself, I don't get into the stance scene but I don't hate it. I admire the work and thinking that goes into the design. One of my friends has a old school Beetle with stanced wheels...kinda looks cool. As with anything, there is a right way and a wrong way to design the parts. Since Lownslow is a machinist and a designer, I'm sure he knows what he's doing under his car. I've seen some crazy unsafe stuff out there regardless of the type of car scene they were in. In my age area, we know the likes of Buterra and Winfield and the Alexander Bros do/did some great and awesome things properly, but if I myself tried to replicate those builds, I'd seriously screw them up. But I can build wiring harnesses like a Boss.
Greg Myers Posted March 18, 2015 Author Posted March 18, 2015 Tire wear be damned. http://www.stanceworks.com/forums/archive/index.php/t-69.html
Joe Handley Posted March 18, 2015 Posted March 18, 2015 Wow, I've worn out tires before, but daaaaang!
zenrat Posted March 18, 2015 Posted March 18, 2015 Once you've worn out one side you can turn 'em round and use the other one... 5 years ago this thread would have been about Donks. 35 years ago it would have been about jacking up the rear.
Greg Myers Posted March 18, 2015 Author Posted March 18, 2015 (edited) Wow, I've worn out tires before, but daaaaang! and it only took a few thousand miles. http://www.stanceworks.com/forums/archive/index.php/t-69.html Edited March 18, 2015 by Greg Myers
unclescott58 Posted March 18, 2015 Posted March 18, 2015 In that first picture, I'm still not seeing the IRS agent under the car. If there is one there, you just gun the accelerator. That takes care of the problem. Scott

Dont under estimate the intelligence of youth, got a problem with the scene then buy them a muscle car at your own expense. I don't think they'd want a muscle car. They're into what they're into & they think it's cool. Who am I to tell them what to do? Different strokes, for different folks. More power to them. Jeff
