Superpeterbilt Posted April 13, 2015 Author Posted April 13, 2015 Terry, I think I would go with a little bit of a stretch! But I really like what I see hear. That chain is a real nice detail. What size would that chain be on the 1 to 1 ?? Gator, this is a 1:8 motorcycle chain. The 1:1 chain on the truck looks to be 1.25" wide or bigger, but Im guessing. be Well Gator

Chariots of Fire Posted April 13, 2015 Posted April 13, 2015 Terry, Wow! What an AWESOME build! Love the super CLEAN building style, details and conversion! The kit definitely lends itself to modification as you and Charlie have clearly shown. Will continue following this one! Makes me want to push all of my projects aside and start an interesting fire service conversion. David Got a Mack Ac fire truck David. Will post some pics. Charlie
Chariots of Fire Posted April 13, 2015 Posted April 13, 2015 That first one is really unique! Love to see that one as a model build.
hooknladderno1 Posted April 13, 2015 Posted April 13, 2015 That first one is really unique! Love to see that one as a model build. My thoughts exactly Charlie! Will go on the "to build " list. David
Chariots of Fire Posted April 13, 2015 Posted April 13, 2015 Here's the Mack AC I did back in 2007. Was the first of a 6 part build that had the rig first as a piece of fire apparatus and finally ended up as a rusting hulk in a field. Five others built the remaining parts of the project.
Superpeterbilt Posted April 13, 2015 Author Posted April 13, 2015 Outstanding build Charles. This really shows how versatile these kits, and the real trucks were.

It was also great to follow along the "history" of this truck's life in miniature 3-D! What a great way to tell a story! David

They made the cover of MC magazine as well as a feature article a few months later.
Superpeterbilt Posted April 18, 2015 Author Posted April 18, 2015 I got started on the second Mack. This one will be box stock except for resin wheels and maybe a few other things. Once the parts are cleaned up, joints and mould seams filed, this kit goes together pretty well.
Petetrucker07 Posted April 18, 2015 Posted April 18, 2015 Nice start on the other truck Terry. I may join this Mack build if I can get by the LHS where I got my new trailers from. They have an Italeri Superliner I have a direction for
Tesla Posted April 18, 2015 Posted April 18, 2015 Nice start on the second build Terry. The wheels and tires look good.
Superpeterbilt Posted April 18, 2015 Author Posted April 18, 2015 Thanks Clayton and Dennis. Heres some of the work thats been done to the engine. And some added detail to the brake spiders
guitarsam326 Posted April 18, 2015 Posted April 18, 2015 Nice Terry, do I see a casting in the Cummins future?
Superpeterbilt Posted April 18, 2015 Author Posted April 18, 2015 Nice Terry, do I see a casting in the Cummins future? Possibly, but I do not have complete pics of every angle of the engine. Im trying to pull it of with very limited reference material. Its going to depend on how it looks when its done.
guitarsam326 Posted April 19, 2015 Posted April 19, 2015 If I'm not mistaken, I saw this engine on eBay, the seller didn't know the make, but they thought it was a Cummins, I wish I would have saved a pic of it now.
Superpeterbilt Posted April 19, 2015 Author Posted April 19, 2015 I got the dump body mounted on the AC. I made a cab guard mimicking the roof arch. I added some height to the suspension to get the fenders off of the tires. I also tackled the engine for the AC.
Tesla Posted April 19, 2015 Posted April 19, 2015 Nice work on the Cummins Terry. Adding the roof arch was a good call. How much height was added for the tires to clear the fenders?
Superpeterbilt Posted April 19, 2015 Author Posted April 19, 2015 Nice work on the Cummins Terry. Adding the roof arch was a good call. How much height was added for the tires to clear the fenders? Thanks Dennis, I added .120 strip to the blocks on the axles and blended it in.
gatorincebu Posted April 20, 2015 Posted April 20, 2015 Terry, you have this one looking really good! I like the raised height, makes it look better. be Well Gator
kilrathy10 Posted April 20, 2015 Posted April 20, 2015 That is really coming along.....Great job.....Amazing build....
Superpeterbilt Posted April 20, 2015 Author Posted April 20, 2015 Thank you Gator and JT. This really is a fun project. I just bought two more of these kits. Im hooked on these things right now. I want to build an AC tandem next.
Superpeterbilt Posted April 21, 2015 Author Posted April 21, 2015 I spent the better part of two hours cleaning up the resin wheels today. I cut out the spaces in the spoke rims, cut out the backs of the front wheels, and blended all the seems and just got them smooth. I want to be able to see through the front wheels, and not black out the background.
