Foxer Posted May 4, 2015 Posted May 4, 2015 who needs headlights? My sister is 70 and blind from birth .. she has done just fine with a couple arms for touch ...
cobraman Posted May 4, 2015 Posted May 4, 2015 Why the heck not ? I know that you are only in mock up but I believe one of the tires are backwards. Right side is correct. Points should face forward but perhaps you have it the way you want it. In that case they are right ! : )
Ira Posted May 4, 2015 Author Posted May 4, 2015 Excellent....your builds are always imaginative and great fun to watch come together. Thanks Codie!

Ira Posted May 5, 2015 Author Posted May 5, 2015 Sweet!!What a cool project. While some of us are trying to be exactly correct with some minute detail of our current project Ira's out digging through his recycling bin looking for just the right size vitamin bottle to cut monster tire wheel well covers from.Gotta love that style building! Thanks Tom! I've gotten to the point where I build for FuN...
Ira Posted May 6, 2015 Author Posted May 6, 2015 I think you forgot to read the box lid man. It says 'Can be built 1 of 2 ways'. Oh No! I missed that...
Ira Posted May 7, 2015 Author Posted May 7, 2015 Medicine bottle tubs .. filing away for recall ... that cab body sure looks rigid now! Thanks Mike! Yes, it is very ridged now...
Ira Posted May 8, 2015 Author Posted May 8, 2015 Axle Supports! I started by cutting paper Templates for the Axle Supports. Then I transferred the shape to sheet plastic and made 2 Axle Supports. I Test Fit the Tires and measured the height for an Axle. Next I drilled the Axle Holes. I measured the positions for the Axle Supports and then glued them in with Zap-A-Gap. Next I cut a length of plastic tubing, for the Axle, and glued it in place. More Coming...
Ira Posted May 8, 2015 Author Posted May 8, 2015 I don't know of anyone who uses more imagination then you. You always surprise me Ira and that an't easy to do! Thanks for the kind words James! So glad you are enjoying it...
Ira Posted May 8, 2015 Author Posted May 8, 2015 GYRO Box! Next I cut 2 pieces of sheet plastic to fit over the front & back of the Axle Supports. Then I glued them in place as shown. I cut a small piece of plastic to fit the bottom and glued it in. Then I sanded the sides smooth with Sanding Boards & Sandpaper. This is where the Batteries and Gyro Scope are located. More Coming...
slusher Posted May 9, 2015 Posted May 9, 2015 Looking good Ira, i am really curious to see what ideas you start adding to the build. I know your doing the foundation right now...
Ira Posted May 9, 2015 Author Posted May 9, 2015 I wouldnt rule it out.... but I'd like to see more of what the end goal is first before I vote yay or nay on the arms. Thanks Jesse! More Coming...

Ira Posted May 9, 2015 Author Posted May 9, 2015 who needs headlights? My sister is 70 and blind from birth .. she has done just fine with a couple arms for touch ... Thanks Mike! Another Vote for BiG Arms...
Ira Posted May 9, 2015 Author Posted May 9, 2015 Why the heck not ? I know that you are only in mock up but I believe one of the tires are backwards. Right side is correct. Points should face forward but perhaps you have it the way you want it. In that case they are right ! : ) Thanks Ray! Another Vote for Arms...
misterNNL Posted May 10, 2015 Posted May 10, 2015 (edited) That new rear panel is perfect for that spot.Just complicated enough to look right. As for the arms...If they were articulated just right it could change it's own tires! Edited May 10, 2015 by misterNNL
bobthehobbyguy Posted May 10, 2015 Posted May 10, 2015 Great start. However I think the arms are just too strange. I vote against them.
Ace-Garageguy Posted May 10, 2015 Posted May 10, 2015 Only from the uber-creative mind of Ira. Love it. How's about one of those arms to act as a "kick-stand" when you shut the gyros down? Sure gonna need something to keep from falling over.
Krazy Rick Posted May 10, 2015 Posted May 10, 2015 BiG Arms? I am thinking about adding Robot Arms to the Dodger. What do you think? More Coming... This wouldn't happen to be the driver of this "thing" .....would it ?
Ira Posted May 10, 2015 Author Posted May 10, 2015 X-Wing Things! I found these Engine Halves in the Parts Box. They are also from the old 12" MPC X-Wing Fighter. With a little Cutting & Fitting they should fit the Gyro Box just right. Here are the Engine Halves in place on the Gyro Box. More Coming...
