landman Posted May 23, 2015 Author Posted May 23, 2015 (edited) While looking up the door caps I realized that the instruments were black faced on a silver insert. I had them backwards. I think I'll add more black to the faces. Edited January 5, 2021 by landman
landman Posted May 24, 2015 Author Posted May 24, 2015 (edited) Did the running boards. Paint over BMF. Added a hidem molding to the front corners and rear of the roof using half round styrene. Worked on the door caps. I have to do something with the dash ends where they meet the cowl above the front of the door. Edited January 5, 2021 by landman
landman Posted May 24, 2015 Author Posted May 24, 2015 (edited) Forgot this one. Edited January 5, 2021 by landman
landman Posted May 26, 2015 Author Posted May 26, 2015 (edited) Made a new base for the shifter & "stole" the handbrake from the Packard kit. Continued shaping the door caps and the little fillers at the end of the dash. Edited January 5, 2021 by landman
landman Posted May 26, 2015 Author Posted May 26, 2015 great work so far Re. Above. thanks Cliff. It has proven to be quite the undertaking. But we are getting there.
Eric Macleod Posted May 27, 2015 Posted May 27, 2015 Yes my Pilot Rays do articulate with the front wheels. This was tricky to get them aligned but adds a wow factor to the car that nothing else can match...other than a good paint job! You are making great progress. I continue to be impressed. I really like the interior color scheme. E-
landman Posted May 27, 2015 Author Posted May 27, 2015 (edited) Thanks Eric. The following will negate your good impressions. On how do to things backward. I masked the flanks of the car and painted the grey. Two mistakes. I should have painted the flanks first, then masked, then paint the grey. Then I forgot to mask the sides of the hood. Eric Macleod Posted May 27, 2015 Posted May 27, 2015 Been there, done that! I still think you are making great progress. Certainly better than my again-stalled Duesenberg! Keep up the good work and get her done.
landman Posted June 2, 2015 Author Posted June 2, 2015 (edited) Added the "wood" to the dash & door tops. Painted the silver. Not happy with it but it'll have to do. Hopefully the rest of the car will draw the attention away. Edited January 5, 2021 by landman
Pim Posted June 2, 2015 Posted June 2, 2015 great work mate just one question you are using the engine from this for your 702 is this going to be curbside or is there going to be a new engine?
landman Posted June 2, 2015 Author Posted June 2, 2015 great work mate just one question you are using the engine from this for your 702 is this going to be curbside or is there going to be a new engine? Brayden: yes it will be curbside with the hood glued in place. I bid on a partially built one on eBay but didn't get it. I was planning on using the engine from that.
landman Posted June 3, 2015 Author Posted June 3, 2015 (edited) Installed a new shifter out of a bag of shifters I bought at Michael's. One of the rumble seat armrest cushions had disappeared so I shaped one out of styrene. Painted the "hidem" molding I had added to the roof. Keeping things in the hobby, made a windshield out of a #11 blade package. Â Â Edited January 10, 2021 by landman
landman Posted June 3, 2015 Author Posted June 3, 2015 (edited) Repaired the front bumper bracket which was broken in three pieces and the bumper itself which was broken in two. Assembled the rumble seat BMF'd the hood hinge and applied the pinstripe. Edited January 10, 2021 by landman
landman Posted June 3, 2015 Author Posted June 3, 2015 Fabulous! Steady striping has been done here! Easy with 1/64th tape...
landman Posted June 3, 2015 Author Posted June 3, 2015 (edited) Almost there. I'm missing the handles for the golf compartment doors. Still need to install the top irons, rumble seat steps and find a place for at least one horn. Edited January 10, 2021 by landman
