I just finished up my build of the Meng Ford F-350. I thought this was a nicely done kit, good fitment, no significant problems. I might consider getting another one if I come up with a different color/scheme for finishing it.

Thanks for the kind words. Being 74 there are some days when the steady hands are not there and I wonder if I should be spending time on something else but it is comments like these from peers that make me wait a few days and get back into it.

Ed,

I had some Model Car World special order Academy Blue ('52 Mercury color) left over from another project and thought this would be a good place to use it up.

Nice looking Ford. I heard that there were issues with the chrome & the tires. Did you find that to be true? Meng was supposed to have that all fixed by the second run. Apparently it has the diesel exhaust for the gasoline engine. Maybe that's how they run them in China.

Jim,

I did not have any problems with the chrome, but I did not mask it when painting the flat black. I have found in the past that if you mask chrome and then trim it with an exacto blade before painting, when you pull the masking tape off you sometimes pull chrome off also. No problems with the tires but the fit is not as tight to the rims as we usually see.

The two problems you will have to address....the side glass protrudes to low under the door openings interfering with interior bucket. In order to get the interior bucket installed correctly you will have to cut/saw some stock from the window glass. I put the glass in and lightly scribed a line along the bottom of the window openings and then used a saw to cut this excess off and everything fit great after that. Also the taillight glass is to "prominent", looking really goofy. You will have to wet sand all of the edges to put a 45 degree chamfer on it so that it blends better with the truck body.

It is a great kit to build....finishes up as a really good looking model. I am planning on building more of them.
