KJ790 Posted April 26, 2015 Posted April 26, 2015 Well I decided to start one of these. I'm planning on keeping it pretty stock other than the wheels and tires. I swapped out the kit parts for a set of super single wheels. I got the box together this morning, now to add all the little details.
Guest Posted April 26, 2015 Posted April 26, 2015 I like it, looks like a REAL trailer. Nice touch with the wheel hubs
Kenny B Posted April 26, 2015 Posted April 26, 2015 Kj, Looks good for a stock wagon. Put on a few marker lights on it just to be legal. Ken.
KJ790 Posted April 26, 2015 Author Posted April 26, 2015 Thanks! It actually needs brake lights as well, I haven't put any lights on it yet. I have to do that, glad hands, air hoses for the brakes, and a few more decals. I might add side skirts too, haven't decided yet.
Petetrucker07 Posted April 26, 2015 Posted April 26, 2015 Since you put super singles on it, it would be fitting for skirts. Looks great Kurt. Nice job so far.
Mopar - D Posted April 26, 2015 Posted April 26, 2015 Kent nice work on the trailer. What are you going to tow it with.
kilrathy10 Posted April 26, 2015 Posted April 26, 2015 Yep...It looks great with those supers on it....Amazing how well these things go together.....I'll finish mine as soon as I get back, tonight.....Great job...I'm about to order another one of these things....What a great model....
Kenny B Posted April 26, 2015 Posted April 26, 2015 Kj, Explain the skirts thing to me. Is this required in all states now? In Canada we don't have anything like this unless the trailer is going to CA. I heard it was for fuel economy in CA? Ken
Petetrucker07 Posted April 27, 2015 Posted April 27, 2015 It is for "fuel economy" as they say. Ca was one of, if not, the first to make them a law on 53 foot reefers. Soon to be all 53s.
KJ790 Posted April 27, 2015 Author Posted April 27, 2015 Yeah, the skirts are supposed to help with fuel mileage. California became the first state to make it a law that all 53' reefers and box vans have to have skirts. Where I am about 1/2 of the 53' trailers running around have them, mostly because a lot of the large fleets have just decided to put them on all of their trailers so that they don't have to keep track of what trailers can go into Cali and what ones cannot.
kwtrucker Posted April 27, 2015 Posted April 27, 2015 (edited) Nice job on the trailer KJ. The super singles look great too. Talking about those fairings under the trailer, me personaIy don't like them. Edited April 27, 2015 by kwtrucker
gatorincebu Posted April 30, 2015 Posted April 30, 2015 KJ, The trailer looks real good. I like the super's. I am also growing to like the idea of the fairings. An off shoot of the fuel economy is the idea that the fairing's make people more aware they are next to a trailer. And I think they look better than the underun bars I have seen here and in pictures of truck in Europe.. Be Well Gator
