Yo Jutt Posted May 3, 2015 Author Posted May 3, 2015 Well got the fuel lines attached and then assembled the engine. Now let's get these plug wires going!!
Yo Jutt Posted May 4, 2015 Author Posted May 4, 2015 Thanks rambenna!! And thanks to everyone for looking!!
Yo Jutt Posted May 4, 2015 Author Posted May 4, 2015 Well the plug wires are in. This is my first time doing boots and trying to do the actual patern. I should have NEVER glued the pulley assembly on before I wired it!! What a tricky time that was. Doesn't look like much but oh well I'm fine with it. When I built my Dodge Dart it was pointed out to me that the wire I had been using was a little to big, hope this is a little closer. Hope you like it, and thanks for looking!!!
Yo Jutt Posted May 4, 2015 Author Posted May 4, 2015 Here are the pics of what I got done this evening.
Yo Jutt Posted May 6, 2015 Author Posted May 6, 2015 Well not a whole lot to update. Just got a lot painted. Did a little mock up. The back wheels didnt fit nicely in the wheel wells. So I swapped out the axel for the stock one from the 68 dart kit. And it fits perfect. Like I said earlier I don't want to get frustrated with this kit and this is the simplest way to narrow things up a little. Again thanks for looking and reading sorry no pics, but pics soon to come as paint drys and building gets rolling.
mustang1989 Posted May 6, 2015 Posted May 6, 2015 (edited) That motor looks good there Justin!! Have you thought about applying a mild, and I mean mild, wash on the pulleys and the supercharger butterflys? It's merely a suggestion and you don't have to put much. It'll bring out the detail a little better. Edited May 6, 2015 by mustang1989
spencer1984 Posted May 6, 2015 Posted May 6, 2015 Great job on the motor, some very nice detail work!
Yo Jutt Posted May 6, 2015 Author Posted May 6, 2015 Thanks guys!! And yes joe I planed on painting the butterflies red like you see on some cars. As for the pulleys I was going give them a quick wash and dab the bolts with flat black. Thanks for looking guys!!!
microwheel Posted May 6, 2015 Posted May 6, 2015 (edited) this is really looking good Justin. I love the engine detail so far. Edited May 6, 2015 by microwheel
Yo Jutt Posted May 9, 2015 Author Posted May 9, 2015 Well guys a little update. Been kinda busy the last few nights so not much happened. But I did get a chance to do a test fit. Put on the front end parts and the wheels I chose stuck out past the fenders. So I grabbed the front end off the 68 dart and its narrower so the wheels are up under the fenders. Now I just have worry about lowering the front end. Thanks for lookin!!
Yo Jutt Posted May 9, 2015 Author Posted May 9, 2015 Thanks Carl! I owe it all to Paul speedpro Tolonen. I stumbled upon his Charger 500 pro street build. I found his break down of his engine build really easy to follow and I adapted it to my building level and this is what I came up with. So a big thanks to Paul and again thanks to all who are following along!!
Yo Jutt Posted May 9, 2015 Author Posted May 9, 2015 Started hacking away at the hood and I finally have a fit that I like.
Yo Jutt Posted May 10, 2015 Author Posted May 10, 2015 Well thought I'd try something new. Figured I bent enough wire on the motor that what the heck I may as well try making seatbelts. Bent a couple make shift buckles and cut thin strips of hockey stick tape. It has a nice cloth texture on it. Hopefully it will take flat black paint well... Again thanks for lookin. Comments and criticisms more than welcome guys!!
Yo Jutt Posted May 22, 2015 Author Posted May 22, 2015 Hey guys!! Sorry for the lack of update, but I've been called back to work setting up fire camps (worked 21 hours yesterday had 6 hrs sleep then worked another 14 today). I know some of you take your builds on the road, but the back roads I have to drive on im afraid I would be doing more rebuilding when I get home. Hopefully these forest fires tame themselves out and things calm down. Thanks to all who have been looking!!
mustang1989 Posted May 22, 2015 Posted May 22, 2015 Keep at it there Justin. The build looks great so far man! Hopefully work'll settle down for you soon.
Yo Jutt Posted May 23, 2015 Author Posted May 23, 2015 Well made it home for the weekend. Going to try and get at it tomorrow. Thanks for following along.
Yo Jutt Posted May 27, 2015 Author Posted May 27, 2015 Well the weekend was cut short.. More fire camps. One in wabasca and another one in slave lake. Seems to be no end in site. Huge fire in cold lake that is 17 000 hectares!!! All I can say is huge shout out to the forestry guys that are doing their best to fight these fires. So needless to say I'll be on the road for a while. Sorry to those following along. But thanks for looking and the kind comments. At least this will give me a few minutes a night to look at old car pictures on Google and plan up other builds!
