Dyno Davo Posted May 10, 2015 Posted May 10, 2015 Another really cool model concept from Tom. Again there are some many versions of the real rod plus the clones it's hard to be authentic to the 1:1. Anyway spent a bit of time trying to get the wood shading looking nice of the coach body, after applying a couple of different colors I over sprayed it with clear yellow. Think I tweaked the back tires as well to better match the real rod. Added as much detail as I could some now hidden on the engine like a more realistic timing case and fuel pump, plumbed fuel system, wired engine. Also added the rope to the chrome side rails. Old cowboy Tex skeleton got a few shades of War Hammer paints then I gave him a dusting to look like he'd been on the trail for a while. Drilled out all his joints and joined them back together with very thin solder so I could pose him in the driving position.
DumpyDan Posted May 10, 2015 Posted May 10, 2015 Ya now this is a good looking, the skeleton driving nicely done
MAGIC MUFFLER Posted May 10, 2015 Posted May 10, 2015 I really like what you did to this one! Very nice thought out work here.. I was looking at mine yesterday as it needs a restoration. Scratched my chin and figured it's too big of a project right now and need to get on my other unfinished drag cars first. I really enjoyed looking at yours this morning .. thanks.
johnz Posted May 10, 2015 Posted May 10, 2015 it is a very nice job.but i've got to tell you Tom Danials never made anything this cool in my opinion.the boothill was built by Ray Fahrner and was parts of a whole funeral themed set.i used to work at the car shows back then for Ray.look up the wake wagon that was my favorite.he also did a flower truck and escort trike.like i said just my opinion, but i don't think Danials work is even in the same league as the late Mr.Fahrners real cars
geetee66 Posted May 10, 2015 Posted May 10, 2015 You've got a really deft touch with these show rods, Dave. Superb work
Dyno Davo Posted May 11, 2015 Author Posted May 11, 2015 Thanks for looking and commenting on this build
christian-w Posted May 11, 2015 Posted May 11, 2015 (edited) Yeah, this is cool! The idea to get the skeleton behind the wheel is much better then to let it stand near by the rod. Cool! Edited May 18, 2015 by christian-w
