crazyjim Posted May 21, 2015 Posted May 21, 2015 Here's my '66 Olds 442 painted in HOK lite teal pearl with a Rustoleum fuision paint roof. Tires are the new red lines and are F60 x 15 front and L60 x 15 out back mounted on Spyder wheels shot with Alclad.
om617 Posted May 21, 2015 Posted May 21, 2015 Really nice shade of blue, the tires fit very well. What is the diffrence between F and L60?
crazyjim Posted May 21, 2015 Author Posted May 21, 2015 Thank you Carl and Tommy. The difference is G, H, I, J, K, Tommy. LOL. Assuming you mean size, I'll take some measurements when I'm out in the shop later.
Monty Posted May 21, 2015 Posted May 21, 2015 You seem to be having good luck with those HOK paints, and this particular shade looks close to some of the factory colors of the day, but with a little more pop. That white roof really sets it off nicely, too. The redlines look sharp and the Sypders are a nice alternative to the ubiquitous Cragar S/S wheels. Question: did you modify the suspension or does this kit build up with that stance? Either way, I like it!
crazyjim Posted May 21, 2015 Author Posted May 21, 2015 Thanks Monty. yeah, I really like the HOK line of paints. I bought a couple bottles of the new Gravity paint over the weekend to try out. The roof is actually more ivory than white. I reversed the spindles on the front to lower it. Back end is stock (kit) height.
JTalmage Posted May 21, 2015 Posted May 21, 2015 Thats a good looking build. By the way, has someone been swinging on that engine in the background? LOL
TooOld Posted May 21, 2015 Posted May 21, 2015 That's really sharp Jim ! Those redlines really compliment the color .
crazyjim Posted May 21, 2015 Author Posted May 21, 2015 Thank you Jesse and Bob. Looks the engine shifted when I was moving the photo booth around.
Scale-Master Posted May 21, 2015 Posted May 21, 2015 I was told once that the phrase on the license plate means "Go die now". Is that correct? If not please share what it does mean.I like that blue.
10thumbs Posted May 21, 2015 Posted May 21, 2015 Hi Jim, great looking Olds! Great paint too. May I ask what primer you use with H of K paints? I have lots of their products, but can't find a decent primer for usage. A little bit of filling material in the primer would not be a problem. What do you use? I'm in Europe, so name brands will not apply here. What is the stuff made of? What is it specifically? A primer for plastics? A real world 1:1 metal primer? Can you help me? Michael

I like that blue. Not even close. I would never put something like that on a build of mine. Translated from Vietnamese, it means "go quickly".

Michael I use only Duplicolor primer in either white, red oxide, or grey. Sometimes I use their filler/primer and sometimes their sealer/primer. It's a real world 1:1 metal primer that I buy it at local auto parts stores. Plain old model kit primer is primarily for enamel paint and won't hold up under lacquer paints. Hope that helps.
10thumbs Posted May 21, 2015 Posted May 21, 2015 10:4! We have Duplicolor paints here. But I've tried primers for styrene, then H of K....catastrophe, just like you wrote. I'll get the real 1:1 and give it a whirl. Thanks for the quick reply! Michael
Scale-Master Posted May 21, 2015 Posted May 21, 2015 Thanks for the translation Jim. Fits the car much better than what I had.
