slider51 Posted June 8, 2015 Posted June 8, 2015 My second build since back in the hobby. All box stock except for back tires.Who doesn't like more rubber under a hot rod?
Davewilly Posted June 9, 2015 Posted June 9, 2015 great looking Chevelle....You made that old kit look pretty good!
Speedfreak Posted June 10, 2015 Posted June 10, 2015 I like the way your Chevelle looks Don, that red, and , yellow looks great together. Are the graphics painted on, or , are they decals?
slider51 Posted June 10, 2015 Author Posted June 10, 2015 Thanks everyone!Yes Bob this is the old MPC Chevelle!I bought this kit probably over 25 yrs ago.Dave and Dan yes this MPC kit was a pretty crapy kit.Never cared much for mpc but my brother had this and I always liked it so I just had to have it!But for as crapy as it was it still looks good when finished.Gene the yellow is decals that came with the kit.
Bob Ellis Posted June 11, 2015 Posted June 11, 2015 Slider51, you might have liked the original MPC annual kit of the '72 Chevelle better. Your's is the early '80s issue after it was a Jim Hurtubise NASCAR racer. A lot of the details were restored, though not that well. I always thought the MPC body was a bit more accurate than the AMT. You can fix the AMT but the MPC was easier. I have the MPC kit you have. Someday, when I get a chance, I will build it.
chunkypeanutbutter Posted June 11, 2015 Posted June 11, 2015 Ain't a hot rod with chicken legs! Good choice with slicks.
High octane Posted June 13, 2015 Posted June 13, 2015 Very nice job on that "bowtie" and yes more rubber in the rear does help not only in appearance, but handling as well.
