BIGTRUCK Posted June 9, 2015 Posted June 9, 2015 (edited) Started this one awhile back and now its time to finish. Cut the frame and added 3/4 inch to extend wheel base for Flintstone resin rear body. Crafted a floor and mounts but it needs to be ground down from the inside ,its a heavy box. It its up on wheels it lifts the front up. Once thats done need to decide what the the back will be, food truck ,tarp top etc. Edited July 17, 2015 by BIGTRUCK better description
SCI-FI Posted June 9, 2015 Posted June 9, 2015 Nice start, post more. How about pics of the lengthened chassis...?
BIGTRUCK Posted June 9, 2015 Author Posted June 9, 2015 The black area is added length, the black floor is from a Revell PT Cruiser, and the cuts to both bodies for fit.
BIGTRUCK Posted June 11, 2015 Author Posted June 11, 2015 Ground resin from inside box to lighten back half, open rear wheel radius and up on big and littles. Next finish cutting roof off to open the sides.
AzTom Posted June 16, 2015 Posted June 16, 2015 Good looking truck box. Have you decided on the use? Would make a cool Street Rod Shop parts truck.
BIGTRUCK Posted June 16, 2015 Author Posted June 16, 2015 Got the roof off now finish opening up the sides, made a set of duel wheels to fit the body right. Now need to decide on a street rod catering truck or a Paddy Wagon Good looking truck box. Have you decided on the use? Would make a cool Street Rod Shop parts truck.
AzTom Posted June 16, 2015 Posted June 16, 2015 Either way would be nice. I have a JF 1/43 truck box similar to yours that I need to do.
BIGTRUCK Posted June 28, 2015 Author Posted June 28, 2015 I chose a 40s style paddy wagon street rod, I have no direction, just build and change things as I go. With roof off I started cutting out wall for security windows. The back half is 1/2 inch thick sometimes more at the top which explains why cutting the roof off took so long. Rear tires are the kit tires mounted on super deep wheels from the Barris T buggy. Fronts are part box tires with matching T buggy front wheels. Altering the front axle was easy to accommodate tires and wheels, the rear needs to be narrowed to fit wide wheels and dual tires under the body.
BIGTRUCK Posted July 14, 2015 Author Posted July 14, 2015 Slow work, doing 2 resin kits at 1 time. Trying to get a 1/25 figure inside without cutting his legs off raise the roof a little, drop the floor a little more. Framed up the left window and used brass for security screen. Framed back area using brass rod for jail bars. Using filler to cover seams when epoxy cures.
BIGTRUCK Posted July 17, 2015 Author Posted July 17, 2015 Chassis upgrades were add 1 inch to length to accept back box vs pick up bed. Add bigger rear end for duel tires and narrow it to fit tires under box.Enlarge rear wheel radius so box drops over tires. Build floor as box comes as a shell. Lopped off roof and make a completely new one, old one was shaped odd and was heavy.Cut out windows adding screen and bars then frame openings. Drill out areas for lights. While waiting for other resin parts to come in Ill start on the truck. This section of the roof is a solid piece.
kruleworld Posted July 18, 2015 Posted July 18, 2015 The back half is 1/2 inch thick Dang. that's some thick resin
3100 chevy Posted July 18, 2015 Posted July 18, 2015 The back half is 1/2 inch thick Dang. that's some thick resin insulates the banging from the crazy Guys in the back
BIGTRUCK Posted July 20, 2015 Author Posted July 20, 2015 With back half done and in primer, chassis painted, I started on the engine and the cab/interior areas. The last few resin items for the cab should be in today.

gatorincebu Posted July 27, 2015 Posted July 27, 2015 Ken, Really nice job you did on this one. I really like your wheels and tires ( yes I am old school in that respect). And your work on the rear body, considering what you had to work with, was really good. And thanks for posting the extra pics! Be Well Gator
DumpyDan Posted July 28, 2015 Posted July 28, 2015 This is really cool, love the idea. I may just steel it!
BIGTRUCK Posted July 28, 2015 Author Posted July 28, 2015 Thanks for all your comments. Truck is done in Chicago P.D. decals posted in Under Glass.
misterNNL Posted January 21, 2016 Posted January 21, 2016 Good 'ol Jimmy Flintstone and his generous application of resin. You need dual rear wheels just to haul all that weight!
Davewilly Posted January 22, 2016 Posted January 22, 2016 Looks pretty nice...But dang! thats a lot of resin in that thing! enough you could have poured a second box if it was molded thin walled!
Sixties Sam Posted January 22, 2016 Posted January 22, 2016 Very neat concept, and well done! Lots of character there! Great work!Sam
Canso65 Posted January 24, 2016 Posted January 24, 2016 Great idea for a unique build Ken. I like the pistol shifter along with some of the other details you've added.
