TurboKitty Posted July 27, 2010 Posted July 27, 2010 pretty clean build, I have the same model that I'm planning on slamming lol. Was it an easy kit to build, or was there a lot of fitment issues?
Zoom Zoom Posted July 27, 2010 Author Posted July 27, 2010 pretty clean build, I have the same model that I'm planning on slamming lol. Was it an easy kit to build, or was there a lot of fitment issues? Thanks! These kits are pretty easy, no major problems, but they are a bit crude underhood/underneath vs. more modern kits. For shelf models they're fine.
Romell R Posted July 28, 2010 Posted July 28, 2010 CRS is a wonderful thing You have better memory than I do. I did fix it. The only photo I have of the fix, though, is in the original form that I showed this model, aka "Donk for a day" for the B'ham NNL a few years ago. For some reason all the stock photos show the wrong A pillar chrome. Oh well...at least it's correct now Nice build Bob but I must say im glad it's only gonna be a "donk for a day" keep up the excellent work. Romell
charlie8575 Posted July 28, 2010 Posted July 28, 2010 This one's inspired me to dig out my '76 and get that into the rotation. I have some 1977 GM Dark Blue-Green Met. downstairs that's about the right color for the dark green in '76. I'll probably use that on it, with a buckskin interior and vinyl moldings. Charlie Larkin
Chuck Most Posted July 28, 2010 Posted July 28, 2010 Is this kit similar, parts and content wise, to the '76 Caprice W/Trailer that was reissued a few years back?
MyBradKeselowski Posted July 28, 2010 Posted July 28, 2010 (edited) Is this kit similar, parts and content wise, to the '76 Caprice W/Trailer that was reissued a few years back? All of these 73-76 Caprice annuals that MPC did are the same as far as parts and contents, as the only thing different in them were the bodies, trim, front and rear end treatment, bumpers, hubcaps, interior seats. As for as the trailers they are all the same, as I have a original MPC 73 Caprice only difference is it is molded (painted with a factory gold metallic paint job)... Edited July 28, 2010 by kaseykahne09
Zoom Zoom Posted July 28, 2010 Author Posted July 28, 2010 Every year MPC re-engraved the previous year's model to update it. So the bodies were modified, interiors modified, etc., but for the most part the tooling was shared and updated every year from 1971 through 1976. It's possible there was new tooling in '73 when they started making the Caprice instead of the Impala.
Jim0205 Posted July 29, 2010 Posted July 29, 2010 Awesome, love the colour and the build. Great presentation of a clean final product, the donk variation looks cool as well.
Kris Morgan Posted July 29, 2010 Posted July 29, 2010 very nice build. What is the trick to using the SpazStix Chrome?

dimaxion Posted August 1, 2010 Posted August 1, 2010 Just right . The Factory Stock is my favorite . It is what I build . Very nice build . Thanx ..
nails3825 Posted August 2, 2010 Posted August 2, 2010 Nice color choice! Looks like it was plucked straight from the showroom floor, way back in 1974
