I have a suggestion for a new board category and I was wondering what others might think about it. Essentially, when we read kit reviews or articles on build-ups, the writer will often point out some kind of error in the instructions. Either there’s a piece that should be put in earlier than the instruction’s suggest, or there is unclear instruction on the placement of a part, and sometimes there are just build issues that can be avoided if you do the same model a 2nd time around, or have knowledge of the issue in advance. I’m sure that most everyone here is like me – we read about this, tell ourselves to remember that when we build the kit, and then forget years later and can’t remember what magazine we saw it in.

I was thinking of a new category along the lines of something like “Errors And Corrections.” The idea would be that each topic pertain to one specific kit by a given manufacturer and it contains the details of whatever problems a builder can expect to find. It would remain an easy to find reference and builders can add to a post with any additional tips, suggestions, recommendations, etc. when they finally get around to building the same kit. This way, if you’ve finally found that holy grail kit and it turns out you really shouldn’t have pre-assembled the body prior to painting, you can check the board and save yourself a whole lot of misery. Let me know what you think!

Seems pretty reasonable to me! A good idea!!! Gets my vote!! Actually, there could be a few additions such as seperate forums for exotics and imports but lets do it one step at a time. :)

That could be helpful. How about a "kitbash korner" for models that just don't fit the normal categories, or just for fun to see what others are doing.

I like it, but good luck.

I think it's a great idea, but maybe call it building corrections, that way folks wouldn't assume that errors and corrections had anything to do with something the magazine has done.

How about it Harry, Gregg?

Maybe there should be a area for pre production kit complaints, these would go to a file that self deletes after one hour, that way those who want to nit pik and rant about a kit that hasn't hit the market yet can do so, and get it out of their system, and the rest of us can go back to enjoying the hobby. (Please notice the tongue in cheek here, just a little hint)

What is wrong with "Car Kit News and Reviews"? Wouldn't putting up something like this be almost a review?

And, if you read around in there, you will find all kinds of creative reviews and responses, before the kits is even out!!

If any-thing , I feel that a breakdown of the "Drag Racing" category is "necessary" ; to wit : "Classic" or "Nostalgia" or "Vintage" versus "New(er)" classes / styles.

Why ? I'll admit that I'm prejudiced in regard to race cars ; Pro Mod , et al. , do nothing for me . Now , that's not to speak to the builders' skills or final product(s) ; I just feel that the "new(er)" stuff needs to be segregated from the vintage stuff .

All fair points. I was just thinking that it might be nice to have a central location where kit specific tips can be compiled. It was just a thought, but it looks like opinions are already divided. Nevertheless, let's see if any of the admins chime in.
