I love trailers and have built quite a few, but these are the only ones I have photos of. The orange one is modeled after the U-Haul one that came with the original AMT Chevy Nova. The purple one was converted to stock from the Monogram '36 Ford street rod kit and the teardrop is made from model airplane Birch plywood, stained and clear coated. They are really so simple to build and add a lot to your collection.

Do you have any in progress photos of the wooden teardrop?I would appreciate seeing them posted here for reference while I am building a series of camper trailers.

If it helps, I can give some details. I was trying to do it as a woodie, so I used thin model plywood, but you can use styrene as well, since a lot of them were built from aluminum sheet or plywood or whatever was at hand. I drew the plans freehand from a picture in an old magazine. They are really simple to make, basically a box with a curved top. I drew mine to be 4x8 feet, but some were longer. The fenders can be from an old car or store bought boat fenders or homemade.

This is a grab from Google search, but can be blown up to scale easily enough.

This is a paper kit, but could also be used as a pattern.

I am working on another and hope to do a feature sometime in the future.

Thanks Gary.Your wooden teardrop inspired me to build one last month..I used a tracing of the rear fender profile from a '35 Auburn speedster as the basic shape, made a sheet styrene shell then covered it with cherry veneer and added basswood design elements for contrast. Thanks for sharing.
