Recently decided to go for a resin body on this subject since the styrene originals have become to expensive for my part. With the

price there is no room for error,on the resin i do not have to work with my shoulders above my ears lol.

So far i have begun the mock-up and fit of parts, there is a little of diffrent types of kits in this one, take what i have.

The floorpan, inner fenders.firewall, front suspension and interior is 70 Coronet,i found one parts car i built 20 years ago.

Rear axle and springs are from Revell 70 Cuda,a bit of shorten it in,the radiator support panel is 68 Charger,so is the

engine and transmission,440 Magnum w 4speed. The wheels and tires and exhaust are also from this kit,as will parts

as brake booster, battery and other small parts be. Sanded off the R/T emblems on the front fenders, and will be using

spares from the Revell 69. My biggest challenge will be to get hold of mint glass only for it,i have all the other stuff.

Colors,i`m not 100% sure yet,but i got hold of two chrysler colors, one very light green metallic, the other is burnt orange-ish.

Well, here are some mock-up pictures.Sorry about the awful light.

Sounds like it's gonna be a good one to watch Tommy! You should be able to use AMT's '68 Road Runner glass in this one with ease, if you can get your hands on it.

Looks good in the mockup,I have a resin body and the glue kit,but finding a color that jumps out at you can be the toughest part.

Looks good Tommy! Man, it sure would be nice to see this one come back! I know what you mean about the crazy prices........just for simple items like a single hood for instance can cost more than the price of a brand new whole kit! :o

I'm fortunate that I was able to find a '68 Convertible builtup on the 'Bay for a reasonable price. It's missing a few bits and pieces, but nothing that can't be replaced by resin.

Thanks for the tip Olaf. Might get lucky if someone parts up kits on Ebay.

True Curtis,i did some google search for referance, and there looks to be plenty to chose from.

Thanks Bill. Yes the price is wild on this subject, also the 69. This resin body came nicely cast, very thin and easy to work

with as for prep, and maby the best part is the price,it does not cost more then a Flinstone subject. Great score on the original

convertible.

Tommy,

I love where you are going with this one. I have a similar project in the queue, but my major problem is what color to paint it, and whether or not to go with a vinyl roof. I know yours will be a knockout, judging from your past builds.

Still waiting for paint so there is a delay. Of coarse i had to start somthing else but i wont bother make a wip for it.

The drivetrain on the Coronet is more or less done, also found a 68 Road Runner in the parts bin, hopefully i can save the glass from it.

Little more fiddle with the engine bay. Will take all parts apart again and do a better finish on it,just a mock up now.

The paint was returned,it was sent to the wrong adress,so they shipped new paint to me and should be here in not

to long. I got another can Plum Crazy free of charge because of they`re mistake.

Here is what i aim for.

I might go stripe delete and skip the vinyl roof, also not sure about wheel/tire yet.

Great color choice.

A suggestion, if I may, , You might think about doing something with those open slots at the top, back of the inner fenders. That's where the kit hinges glue in [if you use them] and are not there on the ream cars. I see a lot of builds with them left open, I'm guilty of it myself.

And BTW, the thing that the instruction sheet calls a "wiper motor" on the instruction sheet is actually the "Beep Beep" horn for the '68 Road Runner version of the kit. The actual wiper motor is on the chrome tree of the older kits but seems to be missing completely from the newer reissues.

That mistake has been on the instruction sheets of all the kits that use that chassis for the last 30 years almost. Don't know why it was never corrected.

Thanks for the suggestions. Never thought of that and would probably have left it as is.

The donor for engine compartment here is the 70 Super Bee from AMT (Purple car on box),i do not have instructions

from this kit, also i`m not really sure if i have the wiper motor or beep beep horn. Any idea for where to get the correct

part? I do have another AMT 68 Road Runner build up,maby i can find some stuff there. Interesting info, thanks.

Put on the automotive base today,it`s laid on top of white Tamiya primer and no problem at all. Depending on temprature i

can get some clear on it tomorrow. The redlines arrived some days ago, also the vinyl tops from MCG. I have painted steel

wheels just in case. The bumpers and grill are in the USA for plating along with a bunch of other bumpers, thanks to a buddy

on here. Must admit to be very nervous/excited on how it will turn out with clear.

Sorry about late updates, been a lot of trouble with paint and aftermarket parts back and forth, but now i do have

everything to complete it so hopefully i will try update more often. I also have several other projects going but i

did not bother start a thread on them. Anyway, thanks for looking.

Since you dont have a name, dodgefever i would recomend this resin body,it`s thin and nicely cast, the downside is

there is no plated parts.

I agree Mark, and the 68 imo is very sleek and no non-sense compared to both previous and later models,or a favorite

of mine. Taste is subjective of coarse. That is really cool, you are lucky to have the originals, and hopefully we get to

see them restored on here.

As i expected when i put clear on everything changed, and when the clear is dry i will try to polish the paint seen done

by some of you folks on here. Got this kit with pads in diffrent very fine grits, first time for me. Now i have to figure out

to try get the engine color correct.

Tommy... Yes I am very lucky to have them my dad had some really cool stuff and many were of the vehicles the family owned over the years the 68 included...always loved the taillight panel its just a beautiful car.  I just hope once I do find those rare parts to them they come out as good as yours do it will make me proud to.

Bit progress on the Coronet. The paint looks totally diffrent eye view then on the photos. I`ll try see if outdoor pictures makes it better.

Not sure if i was to dare go with the vinyl roof, but maby sometime got to be the first. Btw the rear springs will be steel, also lots of touch

up elswhere on the chassis as i go on. Just had to try a little mock up. Thanks for watching.
