I remember the craptastic movie from the mid 2000's , but thats about it, I wont be wasting my money on the kit.

I want the kit, for the car itself, with or without the stripes.

I have so many ideas for the kit that are NOT S&H I may order a case.......

Talked to Revell's Ed Sexton, at IPMS Columbus Oh Show. The 29 Ford Roadster is just around the corner, Starsky Torino has some setbacks, & the new tool 57 Ranchero was a "no comment", Revell is aware of the Resin Conversions kits out there.

Some comment was made as to interest in a new tool Ranchero by hobbiests, perhaps an email campagain would help....

Revell Germany seems to have little interest in importing & selling American hot rods, muscle cars, etc to the European market.

too bad for the guys across the pond.

my comment to them...Herr Revell, tear down that wall!!

I have talked with Revell in the past about kitting a 48 Ford coupe and sedan from their current 48 Ford tools. Their reply was that those bodies were available in resin. I don't understand a model company that would rather their customers buy a resin body instead of modifying a tool to give us what we want. They have just about everything needed except for the body tooling  to make them.

I would buy at least 3 of each if Revell offered a stock height 48 Ford coupe or sedan, I still haven't bought one in resin!

Not to mention that there are some of us that may NOT want to deal with a particular subject in resin! I can kind of see their apprehension though-------even just to tool up a new body can cost tens of thousands, and with today's economy, they like anyone have to watch every nickle.

Still, it would be great to see a new Ranchero from the '57 Del Rio..............

We'll have to wait and see!

Yes. I think that judging by the age set of modelers on this web site, there are a lot of people who will remember that show.
I think, based by the average age set of attendants at any model show, contest, or club meeting,
there are a lot of people who will remember that show.
Marketing matters.

I "remember the show" but I definitely would not buy something based on a tie in to it. that was what I was saying. like when amt issued that Meyers manx with the Elvis tie in...I bought 5 of them dirt cheap because evidently no one wanted them and they didn't sell despite the Elvis photos all over the box...and if the King can't sell stuff, I doubt Starkey and Hutch can...unless someone just wants a Torino in which case they would buy it without the tie in.

I don't care who or so much  as what it really shows on the Box Art it just maybe I might or want to Buy the Kit for lets say the wheels or perhaps the engine or just some parts. Box Art not important it's what's inside ?

The S&H Torino is already our #2 best seller (behind the Moebius Ford P/Us) solely on preorders. Plenty of folks remember the show.

I definitely remember the show from childhood and the movie from a decade ago... if it's reasonably accurate, I'll get 2-3, I like mid 70s Fords...

Again guys... it's not about us.  Kits like the Starsky and Hutch Torino, Elvis Meyers Manx,  Beverly Hills Cop Nova,  Batmobile,  Herbie the Love Bug / Spiderman VW, Simpsons cars...  the whole genre isn't for us.  It's aimed at the absolutely HUGE  TV and Movie Memorabilia hobby and show industry.   Huge, slick professionally run shows across the country that attract thousands... complete with celebrity appearances and other hoopla.  These events make our model car shows look like lemonade stands!  And for these kits, it's all about the box art and the movie or TV show tie in.  Most will never have the cellophane cut open, they'll be kept in memorabilia collections.

Ever wonder why Round 2 hasn't done a new automotive subject, but has done new sci fi kits? Ever check out the Moebius website and see the skads of sci fi theme kits? Yea, it's a huge market,  much larger than our ever complaining herd!

Tom, maybe we could talk the companies into a 67/68 Camaro convertible based on Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives.

I like that idea.  I would like to see AMT do a convertible version.  The 1967 was also a pace car IIRC, so that would give them another sales pitch.  As long as they didn't wreck their Hardtop version to make it, it would be a nice deal.  It would also be a good way for them to ease back into new tools.

Something to.keep in mind with fixing the tooling is that it was originally done when the movie reboot was done over a decade ago. That's an entirely different ownership of Revell, who knows what has to be done just to get it "up to snuff" to make the changes.

Was that movie that long ago? Sure doesn't seem like it.
