While working on the El Camino I came across a pic of a 55 Chevy 210 and decided to do one myself .  I started with an AMT Belair kit and reworked the trim. I also decked the hood for a smoother look. I'll be modifying the chassis slightly, but  will remain a streetable machine. SB power and a black interior is in order.

Cool car James!

I saw recently a '55 210 that had all chrome removed.  I mean zero.  The body was smooth as glass, and done in a super glossy black.  The only chrome on the whole body was around the headlights,  and the plain bumpers.  Not even the windshield had a chrome strip, just the wipers.  The car was breathtaking imho.

Looking very, very good! Are you going to foil the chrome headlight "eyebrow" trim that runs down the front fenders and onto the doors?

The chrome that does run down the fenders doesn't go around the headlights, it's just a spear along the fender, the only chrome on the headlights is the chrome headlight doors, more like a ring than an eyebrow.

And the 210 doesn't have that piece of trim, it and the small trim piece that goes down to the bumper area from the rear of the sidespears are part of the Bel-Air package.

Thanks guys!

The 210 had a different chrome package than the Belair. The rear side spear was solid and no chrome on the front fenders. Also the chrome only ran on the bottom of the side windows and around the front and rear windows.

Ah, you're right about the chrome not going over the headlights. But the front fender chrome spear is molded (somewhat poorly) on the AMT body, and it goes back onto the doors. On an untrimmed '55 front fender, that crease stops a few inches before the door.

That eyebrow chrome trim was a Nomad thing. Loving the red on this car; nothing makes chrome stand out like red!  Keep it coming!
