JTalmage Posted October 3, 2015 Posted October 3, 2015 (edited) Well thanks to the abrupt change to fall here in the southern Ohio area, I couldn't paint the steering wheel the same color as the body... so that will wait. But, it's done for the most part. Paint is Model Masters GM color, Honduras Maroon Metallic. I finished it off with Tamiya flat clear. Gives it a cool metallic suede look. Added a leftover decal from my recent '32 roadster build. Along with some iron crosses on the front fenders from the same decal sheet... Everything else is right out of the box. Minus the sheet of printer paper with a Mexican blanket pattern on it glued to the seat LOL Only real custom work on this kit was adding material between the body and firewall to bring the body sides out to match the roof section. And I also shaved the bumper bracket holes in the body for the shaved bumper look. Hood sides don't fit well once you put the grille shell and all other pieces in so they'll stay off, but nearby. Also the weather has been so windy, rainy, and all-around crappy that I couldnt get any nice and sunny outside shots. I'll add some when I can take some. Enjoy. Here's the interior sans-steering wheel... And the flathead V8. I went off of the pictures that someone posted in my build thread and used some vinyl tubing and drilled a hole thru the magneto and ran some thread into the vinyl tubing... it was the only way I could get it to cooperate. HotRodaSaurus Posted October 3, 2015 Posted October 3, 2015 Great model and a nice little green flatty. Was this the old 3 in 1 kit? Mine came with an un chopped roof, don't remember a whacked top in the box as I have an in progress chopped one(as yet unfinished).Building mine Westergard style.
JTalmage Posted October 3, 2015 Author Posted October 3, 2015 This is the new release of the 3n1 kit actually
MGL Posted October 3, 2015 Posted October 3, 2015 Nice, The engine looks great and I really like the seat. I can never get decals to look good with a satin finish, yours look awesome.
Phildaupho Posted October 3, 2015 Posted October 3, 2015 I have always liked the look of a chopped 3W 36. It is really great the latest reissue comes with that option. I also think those chrome wheels and wide whites look pretty awesome.
rmvw guy Posted October 3, 2015 Posted October 3, 2015 I love the "Suede Look"on this one. The Mexican blanket is a nice touch also. And the engine is looking good with the added detail. The neat wheels and decals finish it off nicely. Excellent job!
tim boyd Posted October 3, 2015 Posted October 3, 2015 (edited) Very nicely done. You overcame all of the minor problems associated wtih this AMT kit in a very convincing manner. Your additions/tweaks to the final build add a lot of character, too! And I really like the Honduras Maroon/flat clear approach (I did the same thing with my box stock build of the channeled version of the Revell '29A a few weeks back). Congrats...TIM Edited October 3, 2015 by tim boyd
wayne swayze Posted October 3, 2015 Posted October 3, 2015 Nice looking car! Stance, colour and the interior are great! Love the big 'ol spotlights too!
10thumbs Posted October 3, 2015 Posted October 3, 2015 Hi Jesse, man that is a great looking 36 Ford. I'm really beginning to like the dull paint jobs and yours looks good! Also the motor. I have a collection of cool hot rod motors, and lots of them are Flatheads too. The snappy paint and the beautiful detailing really makes the motor pop, perfect for a real cool ride.
Dave Darby Posted October 3, 2015 Posted October 3, 2015 I'm with Tim. Boyd. Great attitude, great color, and nice photography as well.
peekay Posted October 3, 2015 Posted October 3, 2015 Great looking model - love the suede look (in this case).
HotRodaSaurus Posted October 3, 2015 Posted October 3, 2015 This is the new release of the 3n1 kit actually I didn't know there was a new release, a better kit overall it seem by the posts, do you know the main differences? The wheels are real neat It was the yellow engine stand that threw me as mine is a 1970s issue in yellow styrene.
JTalmage Posted October 3, 2015 Author Posted October 3, 2015 Just a lot of extra hot rod pieces now in the reissue. And the yellow stand I use for every engine I build.
