Oh my, another Cobra build ? Ya, you just can't have to many. : )  I have a couple of these kits in my unbuilt stash but never built one. Got this one off ebay pretty cheap so I am going to build it. Going to be pretty much stock and not detailed like a couple of the others on this forum.

Cobra's are just so cool. Can never have to many on the forum. I would love to find a good 1:25 kit to add to my stash. I'll be watching this one.

Interesting.  In all the years I've been involved in modeling I've never even heard of this particular mfr, but it looks like it has all the stuff to make a nicely detailed kit.  Does anyone know whether it's a clone of another mfr's work (Revellogram, Fujimi etc)?

The Sunny kit is the original AMT Cobra kit with a modified body and interior to represent a 427.  The Sunny kit was also issued by Academy but labeled an AC 289 Cobra.  To the best of my knowledge the kits (Sunny and Academy) appear to be identical, except for decals.

I believe that all to be true. Here is a photo of 3 bodies. The dark blue one is a Academy body and the off white one and lighter blue one are the two colors that the Sunny kit was molded in. There may also be another kit from these. I just bought a Cobra kit on ebay that I have never seen. It is a Russian version but from the photos it looks like a Academy kit. The box cover shows a photo of what looks like a Super Snake Cobra but I don't believe from what I can see in the photos that it can be built like that. It will take about 3 weeks or so to get here and I will post photos when it arrives.

Here is a pic of the Russian Cobra kit I mentioned. It is labeled an Academy kit but it says it's 1/24 scale which I don't believe. I guess I will know for sure in 3 or 4 weeks ! : ) Anybody ever see this kit ?

I've never seen it.  It would be interesting if it does include the Super Snake parts.  Only two of these cars where built, Shelby's personal car (CSX3015) and one for Bill Cosby (CSX3303).  The car scared Cosby so bad after driving it only once that he returned it to Shelby.  Horsepower was estimated by Shelby to be "About 800".

Cosby did an album called "200 MPH" about this very car.  I also recall an article in Road & Track at the time about these 2 cars.  Pretty impressive HP even by today's standards.

If the body was changed to represent a 427, did the chassis remain unchanged as a 289-spec with leaf spring suspension?

No. Unfortunately the chassis was not modified to the proper coil spring suspension.  It still builds up into a good looking model however.

I'm betting no Super Snake hood and no right hand drive. Would be nice if it did.

Yea I doubt it will have the correct hood or the correct engine.  Not sure why it is shown with RHD as both 1:1 cars are LHD.

I knew you was working on something Ray. Any Updates?

Maybe Monday or Tuesday Carl. I got a little side tracked with Christmas tree and outside lights. I did get the body in primer at least. It needed a bit of cleanup.

Ray, found out why the car is shown with right hand drive.

CSX3303, the Cosby car, was crashed by a subsequent owner.  He was killed when the car left the highway and tumbled down a cliff.   A gentleman from England bought the mangled remains and had them exported back to England.  The car was re-built using a new chassis and body.  During the rebuild it was converted to RHD. Interestingly the rebuilt car ran 48 IDA Webbers in lieu of the original twin Paxton superchargers.  Therefore the large hood bulge would not have been necessary.   In addition the rebuilt car was painted deep maroon with dark red interior.

Found some time to work on this kit after putting up all the Christmas lights and decorations. There are a couple other Cobra builds going on around here now that are better than this old glue bomber can do but I won't let that stop me from gluing my fingers together or smearing some paint here and there. : )  Covered the dash with BMF and drilled out the gauges and glued some faces from behind. Then used some Krystal Klear to make the lens. Drilled a few more holes and used some stretched sprue to make some toggle switches. The body was cleaned up and primed and sprayed with Model Master Big Bad Blue. It was then masked and the stripe was painted with Duplicolor orange/red. Still needs to be cleared.
