Dandydan
I haven't posted in a while but I think this one will be worth sharing. I'm attempting to duplicate my Uncle Bill's 78 Ford pickup that he's owned since new. The Firestone kit is the basis of it, and yes I know that was more or less a heavy duty, extended wheel base, camper special-type; but you get the idea. It's not going to be 100% correct, just a gift that Uncle Bill will hopefully enjoy.
Dandydan
I did most of the prep work on the body two weeks ago with the cream color. We had a nice day last weekend and sprayed the burnt orange color. I got ahead of myself trying to hurry, and never taped the shape around the wheel wells-ugh. So after drying, I sanded and taped, and re-sprayed.
gatorincebu
Dan, Looks like a real good start on the paint job. And as far as I am concerned, you do not need to apologize for building it your way. And I am sure that your Uncle will apreciate the model and your effort! Be Well Gator

mikemodeler
I am sure your Uncle will treasure this gift. Nice start and the paint looks great!
Dandydan
Thanks guys-I appreciate it. Not too much done in the last couple days-a little foil and started assembling the engine.
Modlbldr
Nice start on this. It's looking good. We had a 78 4x4 F250 Super Cab Camper Special when I was growing up. It had the exact oposite paint layout. Center was the cream color.Later-
Dandydan
Thanks Tom-definitely 70's colors! I got some wheels, tires, and wheel covers from DRIPTROIT 71 to match and put a little black paint on them.
Dandydan
I also started making the pockets for the bed rails to sit in and started the rails too. Lots left to do, but it's coming along.

Foxer
That's coming along really nice! I love these kinds of builds .. cars owned by you or one you know. It is sometimes hard to get what seems like a kit made for you into an accurate build of a specific vehicle!
