Sledsel Posted December 22, 2015 Posted December 22, 2015 Great looking builds.I am a bit partial to this body style since I have a 54 Victoria in the garage that I am converting to a Skyliner glasstop. Complete with correct frame. Much easier on the 1/25 for sure.
Deathgoblin Posted December 22, 2015 Posted December 22, 2015 One of the best analogies I've read in a while. I hope Moebius doesn't go Lindberg's way. Don't forget the '61 Chevy and the '64 Plymouth. You're right, I did! Those are excellent, too, from my understanding. I'm gonna have to get the whole series.
charlie8575 Posted December 22, 2015 Posted December 22, 2015 I looked at their 330 too. It looks similar enough to the Polara, that I might just grab one of those too, as the Polara was the first car that I ever owned and drove, though I had a '57 Sunliner before that, but never drove it. If you can get a Jo-Han body and interior, with a little creativity, you can mate the vastly-better 330 running gear to the Jo-Han body/interior/chrome/rims; that's the best route to a very nice Polara. The '53 Ford is excellent. One of the best ever from anyone. Ditto the Hudson.Charlie Larkin
Roadrunner Posted December 22, 2015 Author Posted December 22, 2015 Model Car Garage has a nice photo-etched detail kit for itYea, I was checking out some of their stuff just last night. I'm not real sure I'm ready to make the leap to P.E. yet though.

Roadrunner Posted December 22, 2015 Author Posted December 22, 2015 While scrounging through some photos last night, I stumbled upon this. It's me when I was just a munchkin, standing in front of my dad's 1953? My brother thinks this may actually be a '52, but I can't confirm. Any ideas?
Roadrunner Posted December 22, 2015 Author Posted December 22, 2015 After a quick web search, it appears the grill is more '52 like,... darn, it would have been great to not only do a '53, but have it also represent my dad's car at the same time; kind of a double whammy as it were.
Roadrunner Posted December 22, 2015 Author Posted December 22, 2015 Another photo of what I assume to be the same car.
Motor City Posted December 22, 2015 Posted December 22, 2015 It looks like a '52. How easy would it be to convert the Lindberg kit into a '52? There is a resin '52 hardtop kit I've seen on Ebay, but the body has an obviously incorrect slope to it. I was thinking of taking a typically warped AMT '52 Ford promo for the front grille. Does anyone make the correct '52 side trim? Thanks,Jim
PeeBee Posted December 22, 2015 Posted December 22, 2015 The Lindberg '53 convertible came with an up-top? I always assumed it didn't, and therefore passed on that kit. I won't buy convertible kits that don't include up-tops.
Lordmodelbuilder Posted December 22, 2015 Posted December 22, 2015 I think the Lindberg 53 is a nice kit. Here's a picture of an one that I started customizing way back in 2004. Was a poorly built stocker when I got it.
Junkman Posted December 23, 2015 Posted December 23, 2015 You could still eat snow in '53 without being told off? That is a nice colour on your dad's sedan. It's what's going on my model now.
Harry P. Posted December 23, 2015 Posted December 23, 2015 You could still eat snow in '53 without being told off? It was a simpler time...
Junkman Posted December 23, 2015 Posted December 23, 2015 In '53, when you were five, and you ate snow, your father photographed you.In '73, when you were five, and you ate snow, your father told you off, but let you eat it (if it wasn't yellow). In '93, when you were five, and you ate snow, your father made you spit it out and explained to you the dangers of eating snow.Since 2013, there wasn't any snow to be eaten by five year olds.
Roadrunner Posted December 23, 2015 Author Posted December 23, 2015 It was a simpler time... Indeed it was, Harry.
mike 51 Posted December 23, 2015 Posted December 23, 2015 Modelhaus shows a 52 Ford grille and bumper combo...likely a replacement part for an early promo. You could call Don and ask if it would work...

Roadrunner Posted December 23, 2015 Author Posted December 23, 2015 Me, I'll stick with the '53 straight out of the box, as that was my original intent anyway. Swapping parts to do my dad's '52 may be something I want to do down the road though.
