freakshow12 Posted December 23, 2015 Posted December 23, 2015 (edited) Working on another project. The duster is very close to done, the boss 9 is a pretty involved build so it very slow. In the meantime I figured I would crush out another hemi cuda since it's such a fun kit. My blue one was a low option car so this time I figured I would do an oddball the other way. I picked an odd colour combo and am happy so far. It will look pretty much like this real one. Only thing I might change is add the keystones from the S&M kit on big and little polyglas parts pack tires. Thoughts? its crazy how different light changes the paint. To the eye it's pretty close to the 1:1 The camera lies lol Edited February 18, 2016 by freakshow12
CanadianKronik Posted December 23, 2015 Posted December 23, 2015 nice job on the paint. i have a couple in the stash that i want to get built in 2016.
GTJUNIOR Posted December 23, 2015 Posted December 23, 2015 That paint finish is insane. So smooth and reflective. Well done.
djmcguire Posted December 23, 2015 Posted December 23, 2015 What 'flavor' is your body holder for painting?
freakshow12 Posted December 23, 2015 Author Posted December 23, 2015 Thanks!? Think it was a Smirnoff ice.
freakshow12 Posted December 24, 2015 Author Posted December 24, 2015 Thanks. The interior is all painted, just the wood grain to do. I will post pics of the wheels I want to use. I'm so torn as I like stock muscle cars but I remember the black cuda Cruz did with keystones. It was awesome. I just hate keystones and cragars so this will be a group call. Help me out guys!?
1972coronet Posted December 24, 2015 Posted December 24, 2015 How about Motor Wheels Spyders ? Those look great on every-thing !

To the eye it's pretty close to the 1:1 The camera lies lol Fred...looks like a great project underway here. I vote for the S&M Keystones and the big'n'little Goodyear RWL's....this is exactly how a bucks-up new 'cuda owner would have set up his car in "day two" form in the early 1970's.....and from my point of view, nothing looks better than an early 1970's Mopar B or E body with mags on Goodyear RWL Polyglas GT tires (F's or G's on the front, G's or H's on the back) which is of course very close to what the Round 2 AMT Goodyyear RWL parts pack tires represent. Cheers! TIM
Roadrunner Posted December 24, 2015 Posted December 24, 2015 I have to confess my ignorance here; what or who is S&M?
freakshow12 Posted December 24, 2015 Author Posted December 24, 2015 Thanks guys. The S&M reference is sox & Martin. The cuda comes with a beautiful set of big and little keystones. I will mock it up with the Tim and we will see how it looks?

I kind of dig the look of the keystones with this colour combo. Thoughts?
Maindrian Pace Posted December 26, 2015 Posted December 26, 2015 I'm digging the Keystones. But to use them properly, it'll need a set of yellow Lakewood slapper bars.
mademan Posted December 26, 2015 Posted December 26, 2015 love it, Ive always liked the gold/brown oddball colors on muscle cars, paint is great as per usual. What clear are you shooting?
Speedfreak Posted December 26, 2015 Posted December 26, 2015 I love the paint, nice job getting it on there too. Wheels and tires are spot on. I had a friend with a '73 Challenger that was set up very similar to this.
MeatMan Posted December 26, 2015 Posted December 26, 2015 Sweet paint job! Can't wait to see the finished product.
ProStreetOnTheStrip Posted December 26, 2015 Posted December 26, 2015 YES! to the yellow slapper bars with those wheels! a must-have combo
freakshow12 Posted December 26, 2015 Author Posted December 26, 2015 Thanks guys! Mike I'm using testors wet look clear. 4 coats. Wet sanded after 2nd and 4th coats and one week cure. Then polished. I'm not sure on the traction bars as mopars generally didn't need them due to factory setups involving staggered leafs and pinion snubbers. I will check it out though as I have bars here
freakshow12 Posted December 28, 2015 Author Posted December 28, 2015 Got some done on the interior. Went with a little darker carpet but since it's not going to be 100%stock it works well. It's just mocked up but you get the idea. Thoughts?
