Are those vette wheels available anywhere else? Look like what you'd need to build a decent 'Lawman' '70 Boss 429 car.

I'm going to assume that you're referring to the Motor Wheels Spyders ? Those are readily available via a few resin casters ; I've had the best luck with these :

And these (same caster / seller) :

By the way , those are my all-time favourite wheels ;)

The currently available MPC '79 Trans Am also has a set of Spyders in it, I believe they're all the same depth (similar to the ones in the Street Shark pic).  Of course, you better like the entire kit, since Round 2 decided to overpriced it for some reason (lists close to 30 bucks at most retailers).

If you just want the wheels, resin is definitely the way to go...

It would be great to see the '57 Vette with one-piece body back again. I don't know if that issue included the hard top, but one should be able to make all kinds of good things by combining that issue with the wretched "gasser" kit. (Better yet, just bring back the stock-cum-custom kit, last seen in a 3-Vette Gift Set in the '90s).

The Streaker '67 Vette we can do without, now that Revell has an excellent '67 available everywhere. The molds for the MPC Sting Ray body (which date back to 1964) have been shot for years, and that chassis is pretty much shot, too. The interior IIRC isn't as good as AMT's, much less Revell's. The wheels and tires were the best thing about this kit, and it's doubtful we'd see those tires again.

The ex-Mako Shark II "custom" Vette is a fun build, but I think they'd do better with it if they could restore it to the full "stock" MSII original version. Someone wanting to do a custom or street freak out of it could do just as well starting with the basic "standard" Shark, whereas going the other way could be a LOT of detailed and tedious work.

IIRC the '69 Barracuda was once reissued in the '70s in the GSM box art, but the reissue next month is supposed to be in original '69 style..

That was really cool box art, cannot find pic. White car with red white and blue graphics, stars IIRC. It and Charger were best in bunch,

+10000 on the restoration of Mako Shark II, with trailer.

It might be worth mentioning, this kit is the only kit I am aware of that had the 64-65 Race Hemi cross ram air cleaner molded with it . Unfortunately it should be chrome like the 1/1 were ( but that's easily easily rectified ) Shown is one Ive done in bare metal foil as a quickie idea

Ive yet to find this air cleaner in any other styrene kit to date.

pictures shown to compare to a stock six pack or street hemi air cleaner. and one sitting on my 64 Dodge build

I forgot about the air cleaner, I put it in with a Race Hemi project.

Found the Cuda, they called it a 68. Pretty awesome box art build. I regretted not buying it to this day.

Some Jo-Han kits had that air cleaner also.  The '65 reissue '64 Dodge hardtop (same as the annual except with the Wedge swapped out for the Hemi) has it, as did the '65 and '66 Plymouth annual kits.  I'm not sure about the '67-'68 Plymouths (don't have any of those other than already built) but they probably had it too.  All of the Jo-Han units that I have seen are plated.

Other MPC kits would include the AMT-boxed '65 Coronet (underbody and engine from it were reused in the '66-'67 Charger) and '65 Custom 880 convertible.  The '65 Monaco hardtop, and '66 big Dodge kits, did not include the Hemi as an option so those do not have that air cleaner.

Thanks Mark, Ive not seen or had any of these other kits  . So it had me wondering if this one the only one out there.

I have a couple of them and thinking I may try my hand at resin casting this one ( its looks fairly easy to copy for a 1st timer )
