Modlbldr Posted December 27, 2015 Posted December 27, 2015 (edited) I got this body in a trade a while back and liked the idea that the guy (sorry, I can't remember who) started. It's not quite the Avalanche body style but the idea is there. Hence, the quotes around Avalanche in the title. I got my new bench up in the house and started playing around with this one. I'll have to make a complete custom suspension for it. I just fixed a slight defect in the body. He had made the driver's side a hair over 1/32 longer from the door back, creating a slight warp in the body. Anywho..... just tossing around ideas for now. Let me know what you think. Modlbldr Posted December 29, 2015 Author Posted December 29, 2015 (edited) I got the rear lower fenders on and the custom rocker panel moldings shortened and on. Nothing exciting yet. Looking to do custom front and rear bumpers next. I won't have another chance to work on it until Thursday or Friday. Will be doing research until then.I am looking for a set of instructions for this kit. If you can help me out that would be great!Later- Edited December 29, 2015 by Modlbldr

Modlbldr Posted January 1, 2016 Author Posted January 1, 2016 I I got some bench time in yesterday. This is what the interior looked like when I received it. I spent some time installing the door pulls, cleaning up the seats and test fitting everything. Pretty basic. I may make a door post Guage set but probably won't be able to see much in here. I cleaned up the body moldings and removed the molded exhaust tips. I will either smooth and fill the exhaust cut outs or run aluminum tips out the cut outs. I also cut the front bumper away from the grille and began making a custom bumper out of some resin diamond plate and flat stock. I have a buddy coming over today for a bit of build time. I will post more photos after that. Comments and criticisms welcomed. Later-

Modlbldr Posted January 2, 2016 Author Posted January 2, 2016 Thanks Diesel. I am not sure of what I am going with yet but I am thinking of air shocks. I need to do some thorough research in this area. I haven't looked at lifted suspensions in years. Been trying to look through photos on the inner tube this last week but haven't found much to be helpful. I may need to go old school and get some 4X4 magazines. As far as shortening the cab I think I'm gonna forego the extra work.....Later-
Modlbldr Posted January 2, 2016 Author Posted January 2, 2016 (edited) Tonight's slow progress. I didn't take any time to build while my buddy was here. We just sat and enjoyed talking and listening to music. I managed to get this bit of progress done on the front bumper within the last hour. I'm going to try to add a foot step to each side of the bumper in the next spot under the turn signals. A little added detail, plus on a 1/1 it would be needed in order to stand on the bumper and work on the motor. Later- Edited January 2, 2016 by Modlbldr
Modlbldr Posted January 18, 2016 Author Posted January 18, 2016 Got some bench time in this evening. Got the beginnings of a winch made for the front bumper and a bit more of the bumper done. Still a bit to go before the bumper is ready to paint. Also got a small bit done on the interior. Still researching the type of suspension I will be doing. Later-
