GearUpJammer Posted December 30, 2015 Posted December 30, 2015 Really looks great Dan,like those old Dodges!
Mopar - D Posted January 1, 2016 Author Posted January 1, 2016 (edited) Thanks Vic, I've started on the Detroit diesel engine from the Pete that has a lot of chrome parts that I have in for stripping. I also cut the hood from the cab. The interior and the firewall are going to need a lot of rework to fit right. Going through my parts boxes I found one exhaust stack support but don't have one for the other side. If anyone has one of these supports and willing to sell or,trade it would be appreciated. The support is from the Chevy Astro. See picture. Happy New Years Edited January 1, 2016 by Mopar - D
Old Buckaroo Posted January 1, 2016 Posted January 1, 2016 (edited) Separating the hood from the cab looks like it was a bit of a challenge. The mock up looks good ! Edited January 1, 2016 by Old Buckaroo
guitarsam326 Posted January 1, 2016 Posted January 1, 2016 Very nice! I am a big fan of short wheelbase trucks with POWER!
landman Posted January 2, 2016 Posted January 2, 2016 Anrd Fronter has them on eBay for $55 plus shipping. The quality seams pretty good so far for a resin. I plan to cut the hood so it will open up. The details are better than there regular Bighorn that they sell. Thanks JT. Dan, could you link to a listing. I can't seem to find it. thanks, Pat
Mopar - D Posted January 2, 2016 Author Posted January 2, 2016 Pat here a current linkhttp://www.ebay.com/itm/dodge-big-horn-with-small-nose-front-1-25-/231795274458?hash=item35f81332da:g:UPQAAOSw~gRV6i4o
Mopar - D Posted January 3, 2016 Author Posted January 3, 2016 I realized today that the AMT Frightliner has the rear surspension that the reference truck has so I went over to Hobby Lobby and picked one up and made the change out. Also more work on the engine and with paint.
junkyardjeff Posted January 3, 2016 Posted January 3, 2016 Looking good and would love to build one and have a extra Detroit.
Mopar - D Posted January 3, 2016 Author Posted January 3, 2016 Worked on getting the interior to fit in the cab it was a little to wide to fit all the way in an also worked on getting the firewall trimmed to fit as well. Added the battery boxes. I'm de-chroming the fuel tanks they will be black to match the frame.
Jim B Posted January 4, 2016 Posted January 4, 2016 (edited) Looking nice. Are you planning on thinning the resin hood a bit? Edited January 4, 2016 by Jim B
Mopar - D Posted January 4, 2016 Author Posted January 4, 2016 James I will a little in a couple places over all it's not as thick as some resin cabs.
Mopar - D Posted January 10, 2016 Author Posted January 10, 2016 Made some more progress on the frame with installing the fuel tanks and exhaust stack frames plus some paint. So far I've used the following parts from theses kits. Peterbilt - engine Diamond REO - frame modified, wheels Frightliner - rear suspension, exhaust stacks Here's some pictures of my progress.
Old Buckaroo Posted January 10, 2016 Posted January 10, 2016 Wow! Looks Great! Makes me want one! Yeah , I will second that - thanks Dan ... ....... This is such a cool looking truck, it is really coming together !

Mopar - D Posted January 10, 2016 Author Posted January 10, 2016 Thanks guys I'm having fun with this one. Every time I go over the pictures from the reference site I seam to find something else that I need to add or change. But I'm still moving forward.
gatorincebu Posted January 11, 2016 Posted January 11, 2016 I am really enjoying this thread watching this version of the Dodge come together. Be Well Gator
