I will be using a resin cab that Ive had for years, and cant remember who made it. Im using two kits as my donor. I will be taking parts from a K123 as well as a W925. I will use the tortion bar suspension, and probably the longer frame rails from the W925, and the rest will be the K123. I have a question mark behind the model number because I have been driving myself crazy trying to figure out what this truck would have been. Ive seen a lot of K521 Bullnoses, but the tortion bar suspension should make it a K525, but I cant find any proof of that model number existing. So until I have more info, the closest thing I can come up with is a K825. It will be a long wheel base west coast truck straight out of the 60s. It will have the kit Cummins, and Alcoas all around. Colors will be red, white, black, and gold.

This should be neat. Do you know who did the cab? I picked up a Pete bubblenose a few years ago but have never seen anything to do a similar vintage KW.

Thanks guys. I promise not to disappoint on this one! Ive been wanting to build this for 10 years. This is one of only 3 of these cabs that I have, so I have to make it good.

Just to see how the wheelbase would work out, I mocked up the cab on a built up W900 chassis. Im happy with the length, and it looks like the cab will be a good fit without too much hassle.

This is  what I have found out about the Kenworth numbering system used in the 50's 60's and 70's:
521, 821 and 921 is Single Drive Spring, Torsion or Air Ride Suspensions.

522, K122 and W922 is "Monkey Motion" Tag Axle or other Tag setup Suspensions.
523, K123 and W923 is Dual Drive Walking Beam (Timken or Hendrickson) or Air Ride Suspensions.
524, K124 and W924 is Dual Drive Larger Capacity Timken or Big Six suspensions.
525, 825, K125 and W925 is Dual Drive Torsion Bar suspension.

I found this information on the ATHS Forums a while ago.

Looking Great so far!!

I would have hated to work on one of these since the cab doesn't tilt though. They are still one of my favorite old cabovers. I had one to build once, but the quality was pretty bad, so I got rid of it. Maybe I can get one from Illini Replicas this year.

Looking forward to more!

Ill start this truck off with the most important part, the wheels. If the wheels dont look right, the whole build wont look right. Ill start by cutting off the lugnuts and drilling holes where the lugs were. This is to locate the lug pattern after I file down the ring on the rim.

Then, using my calipers I scribed a line .030 down from where the ring sits on the rim. This will be a guide to file down the lip so the ring will sit down further.

After filing

This is the finished result. Inner ring filed off, and outer ring sitting lower so the rim sticks out more.

Mock up chassis wearing new wheels front and back.

This is all for now. I will begin the long tedious process of cleaning up all of the parts, filing seams, squaring up edges, and sanding everything. Then, I will tackle the cab sanding, scribing door jambs, etc. At this point Im not sure if I will open up the doors, but I will make the front axle steerable. There will be plumbing, air lines, linkage etc. Ive waited a while to build one of these cabs, so Im gonna make it good!
