DRIPTROIT 71 Posted March 5, 2016 Posted March 5, 2016 The shop redo is far enough along to be able to see the bench again. Finished erasing the head & parking lights. Made up a windshield. that is the part I like the least about those resin cabs, making the windshield.Although It only took two tries this time. Looking great! 10-4 on the windshields. I think that I made about 20 for my Bighorn before I got one to fit like I wanted it to. This has been one of my favorite builds! Looking forward to more.
cowboy rich Posted March 5, 2016 Posted March 5, 2016 Trucks coming along real good, like your wheels a lot and I'm a west coaster I'm used to Alcoas! I windshield looks good I not taken on resin yet so probably have no clue how bad it could be to make it fit right Rich
purepmd Posted March 11, 2016 Posted March 11, 2016 I have said it before, and I will say it again here, I really like it when imagination and skill come together. Well done Pat.
gatorincebu Posted March 11, 2016 Posted March 11, 2016 Pat, your body work and the new windshield look real good. Nice job on both. Be Well Gator
landman Posted March 15, 2016 Author Posted March 15, 2016 (edited) Worked on the interior tonight trying to ignore the water seeping insidiously into the house. These kits have no side & back panels. I wonder if Dan made some for his. I got some junkyard pickups coming, maybe I can cobble something from that. Edited December 30, 2020 by landman
Mopar - D Posted March 15, 2016 Posted March 15, 2016 Pat your interior looks good. I've not added any side or back panels on mine. With the cab being small and tight with the seats in and the Windows small you have a hard time seeing any details. The Bighorn I have from Fronter resin has a interior tub that you may be able pick one up from. It has the same cab as yours. Good luck on your water problem.
landman Posted March 15, 2016 Author Posted March 15, 2016 (edited) With a few touch ups, the interior will be ready to install....eventually. This one is a question. Do you guys think this hinge ( I think from a pickup door) is good enough for this hood or should I try and make one of those bent wire ones? Edited December 30, 2020 by landman
Canso65 Posted March 16, 2016 Posted March 16, 2016 The chassis look great Pat. I'd like to make a wind-shield for my DR. Seeing what you have done will help me out a lot. You're making some great progress.Rob
landman Posted March 22, 2016 Author Posted March 22, 2016 (edited) There you go Dan, hood is cut. I opted for the bent wire type hinge. Looks like it might work.\ Edited December 30, 2020 by landman
Mopar - D Posted March 22, 2016 Posted March 22, 2016 Very cool Pat this is going to look fantastic when you have it open up. Keep it coming.
gatorincebu Posted March 22, 2016 Posted March 22, 2016 Pat, I think the wire hinge is the better choice ! And the interior is also looking real good. great look work here. Be Well Gator
gino Posted March 22, 2016 Posted March 22, 2016 nice work on the interior pat ! I like the hood hinges you made !
landman Posted March 22, 2016 Author Posted March 22, 2016 (edited) Did the headlight conversion using the drill press. They drop right in. Edited December 30, 2020 by landman
Tesla Posted March 22, 2016 Posted March 22, 2016 Pat,The windshield came out real nice and good call hinge setup!
Canso65 Posted March 22, 2016 Posted March 22, 2016 I really like the way your interior turned out Pat.Nice call job on the headlights.
landman Posted March 23, 2016 Author Posted March 23, 2016 (edited) Worked on many little details, filing, sanding, drilling, fitting....until I went cross-eyed. No posting for the next few days as I am heading out tomorrow to see ZZ Top. Edited December 30, 2020 by landman
landman Posted March 23, 2016 Author Posted March 23, 2016 (edited) Phase 2. Cuttin'er up. Phase 3. Narrowing the grille to clear the hinges and installing same. Edited December 30, 2020 by landman
Mopar - D Posted March 23, 2016 Posted March 23, 2016 Pat this is so cool I'm glad you decided to cut it up its looking great.
Old Buckaroo Posted March 24, 2016 Posted March 24, 2016 I never knew the fenders hinged open on these trucks until I saw the reference picture you printed. Fantastic work, this is an eye pleasing project.
Superpeterbilt Posted March 24, 2016 Posted March 24, 2016 Those hinges look perfect. Where did you get them?
landman Posted March 24, 2016 Author Posted March 24, 2016 (edited) Those hinges look perfect. Where did you get them? They are from a company called Phoenix, in England I think. I'll check when I get back home. Those hinges look perfect. Where did you get them? Edited March 24, 2016 by landman
