lghtngyello03 Posted January 14, 2016 Posted January 14, 2016 This one has been finished for a while now, just now getting to shoot some pics. Sorry for the sorry quality pics. I need to figure out a booth and break out my DSLR. Started with a Tamiya RX-7 R1, lowered it a tad up front. Wheels are Fujimi Enkie NT03's. Interior is stock but flocked, i can't get any good pics though. Engine is from the Revell ZL1 kit. Exhaust is the rx7 exhaust with a Hobby Design muffler, and a scratch built y pipe. Paint is Tamiya Mica Silver with TS13 clear, and polished with Tamiya polishes.
NYNS Franky Posted January 14, 2016 Posted January 14, 2016 Agree with the above comment. Great job on the conversion, looks real nice.
lghtngyello03 Posted January 14, 2016 Author Posted January 14, 2016 Thanks guys! This was my first build doing something like this. Never really done any kind of swapping or scratch built stuff. This build definitely got the ball rolling from a 10 year + break from the hobby.
Chrischu33 Posted January 14, 2016 Posted January 14, 2016 Very nice, where did you get that sweet exhaust? Scratch build? Thanks!
lghtngyello03 Posted January 14, 2016 Author Posted January 14, 2016 (edited) Very nice, where did you get that sweet exhaust? Scratch build? Thanks! I could build it now that I have it in front of me to get the dimensions. But it's a hobby design muffler. Edited January 14, 2016 by lghtngyello03
lghtngyello03 Posted January 15, 2016 Author Posted January 15, 2016 Nicely done! Looks great! Thanks a lot guys!
captjeffro26 Posted January 15, 2016 Posted January 15, 2016 That looks good! It is cool to see someone doing a swap like this in a model. It is a pretty common thing in the drifting world. I agree it looks like it was supposed to come that way. Nice and clean!

I love the way the FD looks, and the Mazda diehard fans are gonna kill me, but you can't go wrong with an LS swap in one of these cars. It gives them some serious attitude that it should have to go with that mean look.
Silver Foxx Posted January 16, 2016 Posted January 16, 2016 I like what you did to this , real nice work .
DumpyDan Posted January 16, 2016 Posted January 16, 2016 Sweet, nice detail on the under side of the car

Zoom Zoom Posted January 17, 2016 Posted January 17, 2016 Nice FD, very eye catching. I took a few pics of it yesterday at the show. I know a guy in the Atlanta area who has done at least 15 1:1 LS conversions on FC's and FD's and perhaps an RX8 or two.

I'd love to own one of these cars that's super clean with a nicely done swap..might even sell my Evo 8 for it lol.
Zoom Zoom Posted January 18, 2016 Posted January 18, 2016 I haven't uploaded my photos to my Fotki account yet, but if you are on Facebook they're posted on the ACME Facebook page which is a public page. I don't think I saw your car in Tom Valenta's album.SCMA Spartanburg Show
