1930fordpickup Posted January 20, 2016 Posted January 20, 2016 I'm thinking about using a garage floor epoxy covering since I have a bare concrete floor right now. I work at a place where I can get a deep employee discount(factory direct). I might even tint it too. And yes, I'd check about the fumes and curing with the use indoors.I will say that a two part epoxy floor paint will smell like the dickens. painting a 60 x120 building with the doors open still smells bad. Hopefully what you are getting Andy does not smell as bad as the stuff we used from Sherwin Williams. A great product btw. Sure cut down on dust and cleanup is easier. Just a reminder if you forget to turn off a light let it go. Walking on wet paint is like walking on ice with a fresh powder of snow. The kids at work were hopping I fell . LOL
crazyjim Posted January 20, 2016 Author Posted January 20, 2016 I used epoxy paint on the garage and shop floors years ago. Nice stuff but make sure you put some type of mat on the floor where the tires will sit. Hot tires will pull up the paint.
Aaronw Posted January 21, 2016 Posted January 21, 2016 Yes - something like that. I have a couple of samples coming.I've never had a full floor of that stuff but have had a few work places that had islands of the tiles on concrete floor, walkways, large mats in front of work benches etc. It is pretty tough stuff and has a little bit of cushion compared to concrete so easier on the legs if you stand / walk on it for a long time (more like a wood floor than concrete or ceramic tile). It certainly adds a nice man cave look to a room.
Deathgoblin Posted January 21, 2016 Posted January 21, 2016 Mine's carpet. So far I've managed to find things I drop. Now if the cutters launch something off into my shelves, that's another matter entirely.
Bad Brad #2 Posted January 24, 2016 Posted January 24, 2016 Whatever you decide to use make sure its SHINEY !!!
crazyjim Posted January 27, 2016 Author Posted January 27, 2016 Flooring samples arrived from Supratile and Garage Flooring, Inc. The Supratiles would work very well for me except I'm not about to spend $700.00 for a hobby room floor. Looks like my floor will remain as is, Thank you for all the suggestions.
TedD Posted January 27, 2016 Posted January 27, 2016 I have a light colored wood laminate in my hobby room. Went to Lowes and picked up a Black rubber backed all weather carpet runner for under my work area. This works for me and was able to get by with only spending the xtra bucks for the carpet runner.
Belugawrx Posted January 27, 2016 Posted January 27, 2016 (edited) Hardwood, or, Laminate, all the way !! You can hear the little buggers direction Just remember to close all stands and shelf bottoms, down to the floor.... Those 2" risers are a pain to look under !! Oh and don't forget,..seal the baseboard, or 1/4 round to the floor.... (thanks for listenin') Cheers Edited January 27, 2016 by Belugawrx dont ask
crazyjim Posted January 27, 2016 Author Posted January 27, 2016 I have rubber fatigue mats already. We have a neighbor moving out and they've discarded a desk. I grabbed it and will be changing out the Harbor Freight cart holding the spray booth for the desk. The cart has wheels but I never move it so the cart will go to other part of the shop and hold the miter box saw. I'll be able to wheel it around and lock the wheels when ready to cut. While I'm making modifications to the desk to hold the compressor underneath and attach the hose manifold, I'll be cleaning and waxing the floor.
