Eloveless Posted March 14, 2016 Posted March 14, 2016 2 part question. What do you glue and not glue when assembling tires and wheels? Also how do you make the tires smooth after pulling from kit?
Daddyfink Posted March 14, 2016 Posted March 14, 2016 Could you please elaborate on what you are asking? What exactly do you mean by making the tires smooth?
Foxer Posted March 15, 2016 Posted March 15, 2016 I glue everything tight ... wheels don't turn, can't roll off shelf. If you mean the tread surface, I just smooth, or actually roughen, with a rough sanding stick.
StevenGuthmiller Posted March 15, 2016 Posted March 15, 2016 I glue whatever is necessary to hold it together. I've even been known to glue the tires to the wheels if necessary! As far as "smoothing" the tires, I'm assuming as mike did, that you mean the tread. Just regular old sand paper for me. Steve

Snake45 Posted March 17, 2016 Posted March 17, 2016 I almost never glue the tires to the wheels, nor the wheel assemblies to the finished model. I like to switch things around too much.I only glue wheels/tires if absolutely necessary to stay on. And then I either use white glue or superglue.
MrBuick Posted March 17, 2016 Posted March 17, 2016 Unless the wheels don't fit tight enough in the tire, I don't normally glue the wheel to the tire. If I do, I normally use Testors Clear Parts Cement, because it sticks well enough to hold everything but is easy to break looks in case I decide to change the wheels and won't discolor anything. I do the same for gluing them to the model...that way they're on there well enough where I don't have to worry about them falling off/shifting, and again, it's still easy enough to get them off if I want without breaking anything...a light turn of the wheel breaks the bond and it pulls right off (the stuff dries similar to hot glue in that it can sort of just be peeled off).
