2 part question. What do you glue and not glue when assembling tires and wheels? Also how do you make the tires smooth after pulling from kit?

I glue everything tight ... wheels don't turn, can't roll off shelf.

If you mean the tread surface, I just smooth, or actually roughen, with a rough sanding stick.

I glue whatever is necessary to hold it together.

I've even been known to glue the tires to the wheels if necessary! :P

As far as "smoothing" the tires, I'm assuming as mike did, that you mean the tread.

Just regular old sand paper for me.

I almost never glue the tires to the wheels, nor the wheel assemblies to the finished model. I like to switch things around too much.

I only glue wheels/tires if absolutely necessary to stay on. And then I either use white glue or superglue.

Unless the wheels don't fit tight enough in the tire, I don't normally glue the wheel to the tire. If I do, I normally use Testors Clear Parts Cement, because it sticks well enough to hold everything but is easy to break looks in case I decide to change the wheels and won't discolor anything. I do the same for gluing them to the model...that way they're on there well enough where I don't have to worry about them falling off/shifting, and again, it's still easy enough to get them off if I want without breaking anything...a light turn of the wheel breaks the bond and it pulls right off (the stuff dries similar to hot glue in that it can sort of just be peeled off).

Yup again...and the Testors Clear Parts Cement cited is "white glue", as Snake suggests above.
