RestoModGuy Posted March 31, 2016 Posted March 31, 2016 Hey all, so far a great forum to look at other builders. I started building when I was 7, entering model contests and have some of my best memories from that time as a kid building model cars. never got into military models, just building custom cars. Model cars lead me to building real 1:1 show-cars in my teens and 20's. I stopped model car building after that and just this past year have gotten back into the art of building again, reliving those best memories again. The StarTruk Van built when I was 11 The wing-door Vette I built when I was 12 The 71 Cougar, I was 13 The Scratch built blue concept car build completely from scratch I built when I was 15 The red C3 Vette was my first build last year in over 37 years
GTJUNIOR Posted March 31, 2016 Posted March 31, 2016 You have some serious talent Jim. Welcome to the forum.
Ramfins59 Posted March 31, 2016 Posted March 31, 2016 Welcome to our plastic playground Jim. You've built some great looking models.
Harry P. Posted March 31, 2016 Posted March 31, 2016 You have some serious talent Jim. Agreed. Welcome aboard.
astroracer Posted April 1, 2016 Posted April 1, 2016 Nice work for an 11 year old and the C3 is beautiful! I have to mention your "models to real" comment. I did the same thing. Started building as a kid and simply migrated to the big stuff when the drivers license appeared. I haven't built a model since the early 90's but I have some nice 1:1's I can put my name on... Mark
CFMgarage Posted April 1, 2016 Posted April 1, 2016 Great looking models, Jim. When I was 11-12, I barely knew how to aim my stream straight in the restroom by myself, let alone build models this caliber...I must add though, unlike you and Mark, I went from 1:1 cars to models...when I got hurt/handicapped, I picked up this hobby as there's no way I would have to bodily ability to bend over an engine bay for hours now.

Ohh let me tell you how much easier it would be to get back into the scale builds. I am to the point where I have a couple of builds to finish then I might just do that... Mark

I have a younger cousin (who is 24) living in Europe. Figured I'll get something and then invite him out to the US for 5-6 months to hang out (and secretly get his help rebuilding something)
