I went to polish my Revell S&H Tornino this morning and after completing the micro-mesh odeal, I found my stash of tamiya polishing compound was all dried up.  I thought I read somewhere recently that  Tamiya was once again required to re-label products to satisfy a change in the California product saftey laws. I see it available on Amazon from market place sellers but it is out of stock from my usual go to places for supplies.

Any other polishes out there, maybe for real cars which work well?

Thanks

I've been using Wright's Silver Cream, a silver polish, for about 30 years now and it's wonderful stuff. You can get it in the housecleaning products section of Walmart, grocery stores, drugstores, maybe even home depot stores. Ask for it by name!

There are NO chemicals in it that can harm any kind of paint or plastic, just a very fine abrasive in a carrier of some sort. Great stuff!

I had to use Amazon when I ran out of polish over a year ago. It may take a couple of days but that's they way I'd go.

It's not California now, it's global. GHS (Global Harmonization System) went into mandatory effect last June. MSDS are now SDS (Safety Data Sheets). manufacturers world wide are now on the same system. It's a good thing, but a massive Cluster F. I had to throw out $1000's of my own labels and reprint with revisions.

It is still legal for distributors to sell stock that is not compliant, but it is illegal for mfg.s to ship new product without being compliant.

I like Novus polish, it is available in 3 "grits" to allow progressively finer polishing.

McGuires Scratch X works pretty well also. It is easier to find, but only has one "grit" probably about the same as the middle grade of Novus.

Both are California legal so should be available anywhere in the universe.

I've been getting mine from Hobbylink Japan for several years now....TIM

Thats interesting since there is no listing for it on their site, unless I am missing something.

We haven't been able to get it for resale for a couple years now. When I need some for my personal use I'll get it from HK or Japan, but I still have enough for a several years at the rate I get to the paint & polish stage.

And then its dry when you finally get to it

Side note,  checking Tamiya's USA site shows that all three are discontinued

I bought my last batch probably about a year ago.  It was on sale there at that time.  Have not checked since then....TIM
