thnx guys !! and the caps are indeed out of the 68 charger charger revell kit , i got those from the glue bomb kit that i turned into the gasser..

so the wheels are bastards .. mazda steelies with 2 bbs and 2 unknown rim rings with 68 charger caps ... hahaha ....

i needed to make smal brake discs for the front , not a lot of room in the rim .. turned out the 32 ford revel discs fitted great so i de-chromed them and sanded off the calipers .. took 2 big calipers from a old bigger toy car and cut one cliper in half , cut out the shaoe in the discs so i could serapate paint them and glued them together making it look like the disc runs through the caliper .. again just something nice and not overthought .. again fitting in the re;tive quick makeover of this charger

dryfits on the car , painted the dics with metal coat and the centerss black so they would become one with the mount bush on the rim and gave them red calipers

all finally mounted with the wheels mounted for good , this iss the final ride hight and stance in te front (dud that so i can build rods and braces while everything is on , just winging it )

This is one mean looking Charger!!!  I love the changes you have made, Richard!!!  Are the tires resin or are they from a kit???  I really like them as well as the wheels with the dog dish hub caps!!!  The tires, wheels, stance, and all black really make this a car to reckon with!!!  Very cool so far!!!????????

thnx ! those tyres i believe are from a gt40 kit ... dont know wich ... its like a couple of years ago i got tons of parts and hlf kits from a retiring builder .. so i have so much parts to play with ..

these tyres are just stunning , they are real rubber / soft and the thread is uber realistic ...i love them and wish i had more sets like these

that grille surround ...hmmm with everything blacked out and a few minour chrome details , that stuck out like a sore thumb .....

so i decided to black the grille surround out and i made new panels over the grille / headlight covers because those where not that nice anymore .. cant trip them down so ...

looks way way better

put a cap under the rear to roughly show the stance i want , give it some rake .. looks cool

Posted

some work on the exhaust on the rear section .. i want to lead them to just in front of the rear tyres , not sticking out .. semi hidden .. so when you look close you will see the pipes but not like in your face

Posted

some  more work on the exhausts , ends are made of real aluminium pipe

start of some copper plate on the system

taped of the alu pipes and sprayed the rest chrome

removed the custom aircleaner and put on a more conventional one , gave that and the valve covers a layer of clear , revamped the gold on the master brake cilinder ...will add more wires and lines later when its the rest is done

clear coat on the hubcaps , pics dont show it but they are way more shiney now

Posted

very loose dryfit with the exhaust , not fitted just lying loose on the bottom

ooooppsss

i taped a design on the rear quarter , like the mopar design , sprayed it clear glo .. turned out great but it didnt look that good , not enough contrast in shine ...

so i polished it off and then decided to remove the body after all , luckely that worked ... instead of stripping it and repainting .. i decided the paint was fine enough to just clear ,,, i could have done deeper panellines if i repainted but i was like keep it a quicker build and revamp ..

needs some tidying up on 2 spots later ..

but its now deeep gloss black .. over time (few years) i know it will get a tad less deep .. this rattle can paint isnt 2k or like automotie paints .. but for the money it works .. one thing is for sure it always sprays sooo glass like

thnx carl !

pd on the doors the indentations that usually have a ridge .. that looks weird .. back then i anded those flat (i now regret that) ....

i do have a window issue .. same clear as i put on the charger windows making them super glossy and extra clear .. sprayed those inside and out ..

so i figured i'd spray the windows in their place / in the body ... works great but i forgot the side are open and some spray went inside and created a pixely look .. i just sprayed the inside of the windows hoping that will get rid of that ..

if not i need to take the windows out and polish them ...hmmzzz

what do you guys think about a very mild weathering on this one ?? like its been blasting over dirt roads and the lower sides have a mild dusty look ?

so supergloss with some mild dust on the lower sides .. could be cool ,  tyre thread a tad dusty ... tbh its not 100% perfect overall , yes its shiney and yes its not bad at al but its not perfect so in that way it could be cool ...

that said i'm stilll in doubt do it or not

thnx guys !

the paint is from a local diy market in holland called gamma , its their own brnd rattle cans and that stuff lways sprays smooth as glass .. cant get any structure and just impossible to get ornage peel .. weird but great ....only available overe here ..

now i did get a strange rection on the clear ....! overnight its started to rust !!!! whow ....

just kidding of course .. and dont shoot me i'll explain after the pictures

now why in the ..... did i do this ?? first of all i love weathered building .. but i have to admit after the cobra and charger gasser shiney building stole my heart as well ..

fact is i was not happy ...i should have stripped it and started over , first time i build it i shaved the go faster thingy'on the side / door leaving the indentations ..now that looked stupid , i should have scribed the panellines ....and here and there there where a few things that bothered me ..

then when refitting the front axle / supension with wheels and all that broke and i could not get the wheels off ... it didnt want to go back in its place ...

then for the first time in my build career i gave up , could not be bothered with the build anymore .. i love pics of abandoned muscle cars and after a round on google decised to go abandoned on it ...

now it will not stay ruted like this these are the firt base layer , jut 2 types of paint over it with vallejo pigment powder over the wet paint , after drying wiped and some mild spots with acrylic paint .. it looks weird on the pic almost has purple in it .. irl its not like that .. i think the lighting when i took the pic did that ..

so thi on a small base plate making it into a small dio , maybe together with my abadoned dodge van i did a while back .. i also hve a spare charger hood to pile on ...

idea is to go crazy on details , like axles and visible brakes ...torn interiour and weathered interour ..

found a cool reference pic of a similair interiour

roughly attacked the seats ready for foam later on

did the wood trim on the center console out of 1mm rea wood veneer and painted the steering wheel with a layer paint and some woodstain , spokes more matte silver with drilled holes , center black

pre-weathered battery and bras radiator cap

start of a busted windshield

This is looking Fantastically Mean!! love the "black on black" look -did a lot of that style in my past. I love those Fujimi GT-40 tyres as well!!, in fact, I have purchased that kit time and time again just for the tyres to put on my other Mopars!!  -Keep up the great work and momentum!

thnx dann ! , i could have saved it but with all the flaws i just felt like going this route .. tbh i'm having a blast atm .. just fun to build weathered

the torn seats where hard , after a few versions i just put cloth tape over them , cut into that and peeling it reveiling the foam underneith .. downside is the seat design lines are gone .. i'm not 100& happy with the result .. but for now it will have to do .. still thinking i have a fresh 68 seat different design but maybe i can think of a different way to weather ..

that said all the black needs some work i want to try white pigment powder to make it more aged and weathered looking like it gone light .. that will when drybrushed also show the design lines on stuff like the doorpanels and make it not such a black blob

here is the blanc canvas , ready for more weathering , you see the real wood on the center console a bit distressed ..

with the body on

Posted

just gave the bare floor a flyrust look , you wont see much of that with the body on but ooh well ...

and then went in with the white pigment powder .. got that from a guy at a pigment powder factory ounce .. its white pigment powder they use in paint  fabrication ..

man that brought it to life and made it look old ... much happyer now !

put in a old tyre i ounce cut in half ... later i will put in tiny real mini leafs and some small car parts , not too much just a bit

Kinda funny how this car started out shiney, and you were going to build the other charger flip nose as a weathered car... and now they've changed roles.

yes hahah thats right you are sharp !! ...

Love the new rusted version. Love that you made the lok abandonedbecuse you aabandoned the project. Hope you do another shiny black version later as I thught it looked good.

thnx .. and yes thats true :) and i think one day i will build a charger in this style shiney .. i could buid several tbh all different styles ....

just came home from work and made a new shifter , used the kits sleeve and made  a new rod and gearknob .. the revell version is horrible , rod is way to thick and the knob too small in comparison ..
