Wally Cleaver's Chevy from the AMT 51 Chevy kit. Loads of fun,and had to take some dramatic licence because its very hard to find still images of the car. I had to watch epidodes, and I don't have the ability to screen capture so I kinda had to work from memory, and in the case of the interior, I had to use my imagination. Used lots of artist pastels and sealed that with hairspray, but at least Wally can now take Mary Ellen Rogers to the prom.

Nice. I remember episodes with him driving that chevy convertible. Although it was a 53 like mike said.... Actually his first car was a 36 Ford coupe..Non running I think..

Very Cool!  Anybody ever hear the "Leave it to Beaver" spoofs on the radio back in the 90's, "Starring Clint Eastwood as the Beaver"?   What a hoot!

From IMCDb, as it appeared on the show:

And around the same time, it was Peter Fonda's ride in Tammy and the Doctor:

The patina when it played Wally's car was probably washable.

That's a completely different car than the model in the first post. Grille is different, side trim is different.

"Good morning Mrs. Cleaver" Pretty cool idea Craig! One of my favorite shows as a kid growing up.

Thanks Mark. As some have pointed out, the actual car was a 53 Chevy rather than a 51 as I built. Regardless, it was a fun build, and I got to try some things I've never done before, and I certainly hope I've captured the spirit of Wally's car. It's still an awesome show, some of the greatest dialogue ever! Have a great day!

Good stuff Craig. No worries on it not being the exact car, it's the spirit of the build that counts.

That's great, nice work!  Any plans to make Ward's Fairlane?

Thanks! I've seen alot of your work on Youtube. Great stuff!

Lumpy's Ford would be cool too!

Looks like Ward is checking prices on his cell phone.

Ha ha!! Yeah- I thought it looked like he was taking a picture to send to June. I'm sure some of these tech-savvy guys could take that picture and actually put a cell phone in his hand. That'd be FUNNY!!! I really like the model. Creative subject matter as well.

Craig:  You are a truly devoted modeller, watching all those Beaver episodes.  I remember someone saying Wally's car was green and Lumpy' as "sick purple."

Thanks George! I remember that too, so I did look up the Chevy colors from that time period, and went with what felt right. I can only imagine what "sick purple" looks like. The thing that killed me about Lumpy's car was there always seemed to be something wrong with it and he was always going to the dump to get parts, but the car actually always looked really good! At least the Lump kept it clean!

That's awesome. What a great subject to build and I personally could care less about whether it is a 51 or 53 as it's a hobby that is meant to be fun and you definitely are having a good time and so am I after seeing this. Again, Thanks for sharing this and keep up the great work.       Jeff

Thanks Jeff! I couldn't have said it better myself! All the best!
