Intmd8r Posted April 29, 2016 Author Posted April 29, 2016 Thanks everyone! Even tho these pics show some serious orange peel, I'm pretty proud of how this one turned out. One of my favorite builds so far. Won 2nd place in my first model car show! Believe it or not, the inspiration came from my father-in law's Canary Yellow '54 Austin Somerset convertible restoration. When the body was off of the chassis, I asked him why he was painting the frame/engine block/trans/suspension components different shades of Olive Drab, Brown, and other military shades. He replied that the Austin factory in the UK had a surplus of these paint colors left over after the war. So naturally, they used it up on these components when they went back to producing cars. This left me wanting to build a "retro themed" Hot Rod, and this was it. SC
Rider Posted May 1, 2016 Posted May 1, 2016 Great amount of detail, good stuff. The wheels no tire's are cool.
crazyjim Posted May 1, 2016 Posted May 1, 2016 Very nice hot rod. The leather hood straps are an excellent touch.
