Don't want to shop there because they play 'Christian Muzak'.....fantastic.....means I get pick of the litter with my 40% off!!!

I wish more folks in my area felt the same.......way too many kits sell out before I get to them!!! I figure we will soon see a '13 hours' type film exposing what's behind that Muzak!!!!

With the internet I have no reason to shop at hobby shops... ;)

This is why we will, eventually, only have places like Hobby Lobby (an aisle in a big box store). I like to go to hobby shops and put my hands on the items I want to buy. Whenever I go to a new area for work, the first thing I look up is local hobby shops to see if there are any nearby.

And there is a cross display of them in all sizes for crafts..   My first thought was if your dog died, you could get a cross here.

Harry replied:

Walmart, Pennys, Sears, K-Mart, etc. sell Christmas trees. Do you refuse to shop in all of those stores, too?

I never said I don't shop there. I merely reported seeing crosses there after you said there were not any religious items.  Does it bother me? No.

Ok, I seem to get the point that some of you refuse to shop at HL because they are a Christian-owned company.

If that's how you feel, fine. You have every right to shop–or not shop–wherever you decide, for whatever reason you decide. I won't judge anyone for their opinion.

My last comment on this subject will be this: Refusing to shop at HL is only doing yourself a disservice, as they not only carry a pretty nice selection of kits, paints, airbrushes, and all sorts of glues, brass rod and tubing, basswood strips in many sizes, sheet styrene, etc., etc... but you can find all sorts of cool stuff in their jewelry aisle that works perfectly to replicate scale chain, cable, various widgets, etc. If you have even the slightest bit of imagination, you will find dozens of things at HL that lend themselves directly to model cars. For example, I buy a leather-like material in their sewing department that makes perfect in-scale "leather." I found a sheet of "mother of pearl" patterned paper in their scrapbooking aisle that made the perfect "mother of pearl" gauge panel insert for my Pocher Mercedes. And on and on. HL is like a giant treasure chest of model building goodies. And like I said, they do not push the "Christian" thing at all. In fact, I never even knew they were Christian owned until that whole court case regarding Obamacare made the news some time ago.

Bottom line: I find tons of useful things at HL. I am not in the least bit bothered by the fact that they are Christian-owned. I wouldn't care if they were Hindu-owned, or Buddhist-owned, or atheist-owned. Their ownership has zero effect on my personal beliefs. I shop there for the products, not for the "religious experience."

But if you prefer not to shop there, that's perfectly ok. Not my place to judge your decision.

Over and out. :)

Thank you Harry for pointing out the obvious reasons to shop there. As someone who grew up going to just about any store in the '70's and finding model cars, Hobby Lobby is the only place I have left to physically find a model kit here in Charlotte. Yes, we have A.C. Moore and Michaels, but their selection is nowhere near what HL has. I could drive an hour away to a Hobbytown USA but their prices are straight MSRP and the shop caters to the R/C crowd.

While I do a fair bit of buying off the internet and at a couple of shows in the area, I still like to walk the aisle and pretend I am 12 years old again !

I was at my local Hobby Lobby today lookin' for Revell's neew '30 Model A Coupe, but it seem they don't have them as yet. I did notice that they have their "Fall" items on display already along with some Christmas wreaths. Kinda early isn't it???

I suspect Christmas items are big sellers for HL, I know I'll be buying some each month from now until Christmas. For a little kid like me, it's never too early to start thinking about Christmas.
