Mike999 Posted May 18, 2016 Posted May 18, 2016 Stopped at the Michael's today in Anderson, SC. They had the following car kits on clearance at $14.99. Normal price was $27.99. There may be a couple more I forgot. The AMT-R2 '66 Ford was NOT on clearance, neither were most of the other car kits:AMT-Round 2 Petty Dodge Dart Modified SportsmanAMT-Round 2 '60 Falcon Ranchero (1/25 "Ohio George")Lindberg Little Red WagonMPC-Round 2 '75 Dodge Dart SportAlso stopped by Ollie's. The big scale model sale seems to be almost done. This store still had a few Lindberg "Color Me Gone" '64 Dodges, 1 Lindberg 1/20 Surf Buggy, Revell Impala Police snaps, and a ton of military/aircraft/Hawk Weird-Ohs kits. Didn't see anything new, or any signs of re-stocking the existing car kits.
Greg Myers Posted May 18, 2016 Posted May 18, 2016 My last visit , here in AZ, the pickins' were slim.
Daddyfink Posted May 18, 2016 Posted May 18, 2016 Mostly the same Revell/Monogram stuff in San Diego,CA and nothing is on sale
SfanGoch Posted May 18, 2016 Posted May 18, 2016 Mostly the same Revell/Monogram stuff in San Diego,CA and nothing is on saleDitto at the new Michaels near me.
Mike999 Posted May 19, 2016 Author Posted May 19, 2016 Thanks for the responses. Looks like each Michael's store decides independently what it will put on clearance. Hobby Lobby seems to do it the other way. I always see the same kits in the clearance aisles at the 2 HL stores in this area. Though I noticed a weird thing with the AMT 53 Studebaker - it was clearance priced at $15.59, except I found one in the Clearance aisle for $14.99.I also remembered another clearance kit at this Michael's store for $14.99 - the Ohio George/MALCO Mustang Gasser.
Fabrux Posted May 19, 2016 Posted May 19, 2016 Two weeks ago I picked up an AMT '66 Nova and Lindberg Lil' Red Wagon on clearance at the Michael's in Fredericton, NB.
ChrisBcritter Posted May 25, 2016 Posted May 25, 2016 Checked the Glenview, IL Michael's this evening - the $14.99 car kits were the Petty Dart, Dart Sport, '69 Chevelle convertible, Little Red Wagon, '60 Ranchero, and the Malco Gasser Mustang.
mademan Posted May 25, 2016 Posted May 25, 2016 up here in Sask. Canada the same 41 Chevy truck, 67 GTO, and foose gtx have been on clearance for over a year ... $19.99 regular $37.99
gasman Posted May 25, 2016 Posted May 25, 2016 Stopped today, nothing on clearance but they finally got some new stock in, the Revell 65 Foose Impala, and the Starsky and Hutch Torino. Used a Coupon and got another Torino for under $14.
RickRollerLT1 Posted May 26, 2016 Posted May 26, 2016 (edited) Are the General (Custer) Lees on clearance yet? Since R2 discontinued then, they are still 21.99 at the last store I checked.Gasman, is that all the new stock they just got in? What others did you see? Kinda related to craft stores, I did see the new Revell '67 Nickey Camaro at an AC Moore yesterday but lacked the magical circular coupon, so hopefully they still have it before itsa gone! Tom Geiger Posted May 26, 2016 Posted May 26, 2016 at an AC Moore yesterday but lacked the magical coupon, so hopefully they still have it before itsa gone! The magical coupon is on your phone! Book mark it and you have it with you all the time!
RickRollerLT1 Posted May 26, 2016 Posted May 26, 2016 (edited) I tried it one time with a ACM coupon from my email on the phone and the cashier said the coupons were fake as they lacked a barcode... yet there was one RIGHT THERE IN PLAIN FLIPPIN SIGHT!!! While most places accept coupons phone coupons digital form (even from 3rd party apps like RetailMeNot), ether the local ACM doesn't from their own, or the girl that day wanted to clock out instead of staying after her shift. To the point, I usually bring circular coupons whenever I go there as it seems its easier for them to take those, along with the fact there are some who think that anything digital is fake and get nasty if you tell them that this store accepts them, but they don't know how/or don't want to. Roadrunner Posted May 26, 2016 Posted May 26, 2016 The magical coupon is on your phone! Book mark it and you have it with you all the time!It is if you have a smart phone. I have no such capability on my phone, though my roommate does.
Tom Geiger Posted May 27, 2016 Posted May 27, 2016 (edited) I tried it one time with a ACM coupon from my email on the phone and the cashier said the coupons were fake as they lacked a barcode... yet there was one RIGHT THERE IN PLAIN FLIPPIN SIGHT!!! While most places accept coupons phone coupons digital form (even from 3rd party apps like RetailMeNot), ether the local ACM doesn't from their own, or the girl that day wanted to clock out instead of staying after her shift. If any store gives my flack about their coupon, I leave the stuff on the counter and leave! Most stores are happy you are there. I was in Hobby Lobby the other day with a single $26 item. I had pulled the coupon up on my phone screen in the aisle before I grabbed the item. By the time I got up to the register the image disappeared and the cashier said not to worry, she knew the code! And gave me the discount without seeing the coupon. It is if you have a smart phone. I have no such capability on my phone, though my roommate does. People who fail to embrace technology will someday and will kick themselves for all the time they've lost. The smart phone is one of the best inventions ever. Today I passed a car dealer and saw they put a Chrysler convertible out in the front row. I pulled out my phone, pressed the button and said "Find Lawrence Ford". The page came up. When I stopped at a light I found the car and saw the miles were too high and they wanted way too much money. Saved me stopping and looking, and being accosted by some aggressive salesman! On the way home I clicked on Waze, a traffic program. The road I was on instantly appeared on the screen with all the traffic jams displayed. It even estimated how long it would take me to get home with current traffic. Same screen shows my current speed and the speed limit. Sitting in traffic I wondered if it was going to be this hot all week, so I hit the weather button and saw it will be!As I sat there I figured I'd tell my wife my ETA. So I hit the button and said into the phone "Text Diane, I will be home around six". It then confirmed it sent her the message. I got home and realized I needed to reorder my meds. I push the Walgreens button, and put my med bottle in front of the phone. The ap found the bar code and reordered my prescription for me.Technology is grand!PS- Walgreens just texted me that my prescription is ready for pickup! Edited May 27, 2016 by Tom Geiger
Roadrunner Posted May 27, 2016 Posted May 27, 2016 I don't doubt that they're cool, Tom, and useful, it's just not in my budget at the moment.
RickRollerLT1 Posted May 28, 2016 Posted May 28, 2016 (edited) Tom, that's what I did at ACM. They seem to be more fickle with coupons than Michales, but from time to time they carry a random Revell/AMT kit you normally don't see at big boxes (Porsche 914-6, Datsun 240z BRE, 70 Sox and Martian Cudaetc). On a positive note, I just got back with the New 83 Hurst Olds from Michaels for $18 (with a retailmenot phone coupon they graciously took!) Edited May 28, 2016 by RickRollerLT1
