cobraman Posted June 7, 2016 Posted June 7, 2016 That was cool. I wonder if another El Camino or Ranchero type vehicle would find a market here in the states again.
GTJUNIOR Posted June 7, 2016 Posted June 7, 2016 Here in South Africa it is sold as a Chevy Lumina SS ute with the 6.2 litre V8. Very nice vehicle, drives like a normal sedan with the practicality of a light truck, although I have never seen one with anything in the bed before.
louie Posted June 7, 2016 Posted June 7, 2016 Now that was good! Thanks for sharing this with us. Jeff
Xingu Posted June 7, 2016 Posted June 7, 2016 I like the first version of the Ute. I could see myself driving around town it.
unclescott58 Posted June 7, 2016 Posted June 7, 2016 I love Holden. And I love Utes. So the above commercial is a double winner to me. Thank you for sharing it.
Tom Geiger Posted June 8, 2016 Posted June 8, 2016 Agreed. If that made it's way to the USA as a Chevy El Camino, it would do very well! We don't have anything like that at all!
espo Posted June 8, 2016 Posted June 8, 2016 Great ad showing the evolution of Holden utes. When I retired in 2005 I bought a new Pontiac GTO which you would know as a Manero . It was the LS2 with a 6-speed manual. A few years later the General Motors was supposed to bring the UTE to the US but then our economy when in the toilet and GM took the bailout from the government and dropped Pontiac to keep Buicks because they sold big in China. I was ready to trade my GTO for the UTE when all this was going on. Since then my garage has seen a steady stream of new MoPars. But if GM ever starts listening to its customer base again and brings this to the US I'd buy one.
Motor City Posted June 9, 2016 Posted June 9, 2016 cool ad; I still have the El Camino I ordered years ago
