Current ones run $10.oo or More each!!!!
Mike999 Posted June 13, 2016 Posted June 13, 2016 Building suggestion for the Mack: the Israeli Defense Forces used those to pull flatbed trailers for armored vehicles. Some of you geezers may remember Francois Verlinden building the truck and scratch-building the trailer, many years ago. A search will turn up quite a few interesting builds of that kit.
Snake45 Posted June 13, 2016 Posted June 13, 2016 I wish they'd bring back the old Monogram 1/32 Willys, Fiat, and '34 Ford dragsters, and the Lotus and Ferrari GP cars. I'd buy and build them all just out of nostalgia! There are some old Revell 1/32s I'd like to see back, too--'67 Camaro, Mustang, and Cougar, and '68 Javelin and Firebird. I'd buy those, too.Was rummaging around in the Snakepit the other day looking for something else and ran across a few random 1/32s: Monogram '69 Camaro and '55 Chevy, and Lindberg Daytona Cobra coupe. Wish I'd bought the Monogram Nova and '68 GTO when Walmart had them. I know I have an Aurora Mako Shark and somebody's 1/32 Ford GT40 (Lindberg?) around here somewhere, too. Getting in the mood to Snake-slap a couple of these together, just for grins!
Edsel-Dan Posted June 13, 2016 Posted June 13, 2016 I hope that Revell eventually re-issues ALL of the Monogram & Revell 1/32 kits!!!And I believe there was more that One AMX!!I have seen an SST kit too (A Pink AMX & an Orange SST were listed on that evil Auctionbay site for $10.oo each builtNot sure if they sold though)Also a VW Beetle, a Formula S Barracuda (I have one)the 56 Vette, 57 Chevy, T-Bird & Fairlane 500I have at least 3 of the 3 57's!! and 2 of the 56 Vette and Cougar!! I have had 2 each of the Cooper Ford & Ferrari 275!! We Can NOT get the Revell late 70's Nova back as it was converted into a Custom El Camino, but the Van Should be salvagable!!EVEN Police & Fire versions!!! As to the MACK R, I think those Israeli rigs are DM cabs Not R's!!Look at the hoods!!And What about all the other Semi cabs Monogram had, Chevy Bison & GMC GeneralFreightliner Conventional & COE, KW & Pete COE's & Conventionals!!!I think they had Both flat roof & Aerodyne KW's. at least in the COE (Maybe even the conventional too!) I still have One of the Ford Screamer that I will not build myselfBut need to make sure it is complete!! The Monogram Nova was a Glue kit With opening hood & engineJust like the 69 Charger, & EXP/LX7!!I have a ChargerBOTH kit versions had all parts, only differences were decals & color of plastic!!Were there others in this series???
blunc Posted June 14, 2016 Posted June 14, 2016 70's Trans Am and an 80's Z28, all of the Monogram 1/32 glue kits are great as an out of the box or kit bash.I wish those would be reissued.
Mike999 Posted June 14, 2016 Posted June 14, 2016 As to the MACK R, I think those Israeli rigs are DM cabs Not R's!! Look at the hoods!! Yep. The poster on the armor board I stole them from identified the trucks as Mack R's. But those hoods and fenders are definitely longer. Here's the cover of the Verlinden magazine with plans for scratch-building the rig. Can't see much of the truck from this angle, but can tell it's definitely the short hood/fender MONOGRAM Mack kit:
highway Posted June 14, 2016 Posted June 14, 2016 (edited) There were also the race car haulers and cars to go with them. I don't know how many different teams they offered, but I know that I have this newer Earnhardt (they also had an older version with either a Chevy Bison or maybe a Peterbilt 359 cab) and also a Davey Allison transporter and the matching cars in the stash, and still have parts of an old Kyle Petty "Hot Wheels" transporter floating around in the parts boxes, not sure if there were others. One side note, the cars in this one are Luminas, but they also did offer the Monte Carlo as well. I didn't realize until I actually received the kits off of eBay I didn't pay attention that they were the wrong car for the transporter! Edited June 14, 2016 by highway
Edsel-Dan Posted June 14, 2016 Posted June 14, 2016 I have 3 of the transporter kits Four if you count the 2 Kyle Petty!!!!! I also have the Davey Allison & Corporate Team-mate Mario/Michael Andretti CART set I know they also did Jeff Gordon's Dupont & John Force Funny Car team haulersBUT, I believe ALL have the same KW cab!!!Luckily Monogram did the Aeromax Ford so the Davey Allison/Robert Yates rig can be built CorrectlyAnd I have 2 of the Thunderbird's for the rig too!! (Just need to dig it out again!!)The Davey/Yates rig has the Lounge parts for the front trailer compartmentwhile the Andretti rig has SHOP Equipment there DID Monogram have Monte Carlo's?? know at the time these came out Chevy teams ran Lumina's I do know Monogram did NOT offer the Grand Prix, so anyone doing Kyle Petty;s rig needs AMT kitsfor the cars!!!

I forgot about the CART and NHRA offerings, and now that you brought them up and the Aeromax since a lot of Ford teams did use the Ford tractor back in the day, I thought one of the white transporters did have an Aeromax power unit. If I remember correctly, to be correct unless it was when Force was still racing an "Oldsmobile" (in quotes because I've always thought of a funny car as just the car the nose is supposed to represent, not the real car), the power unit for that transporter was probably a Ford too. I never really paid attention to the front of the Allison rig yet, I haven't started mine, but the Earnhardt has the shop also. And yes, Monogram did do the Monte Carlo also, I just found this one with a quick look on eBay. And if you look closely at the box art of my Earnhardt transporter, that issue of it at least was post Lumina, because it has the early slabside Monte Carlo on the decals. That was how I discovered I bought a lot of 4 of the Luminas off eBay and bought the wrong car for the truck!
Edsel-Dan Posted June 15, 2016 Posted June 15, 2016 OK on the Monte CarloI do not think I have anyIn Fact, only know I have 2 of the Davey Allison T-Bird Monogram 1/32 nascar kitsAll others are AMT. I do No't believe Monogram used any other cab that the Standard or T-600 (Aero/Swoopy) KW Convertionalin those transporter kits I need to look at the kit again to see if the Cab from the Allison kit is a T600 style or Standard KWI had to get the Aeromax separately!!!!I have the First issue Maroon of that Ford!!!

I have the First issue Maroon of that Ford!!! The cab on the Allison is the T600, and they used the T600 on MOST of the transporter kits. These are the two exceptions (one I mentioned in an earlier post, just couldn't remember what tractor it actually had) to using the T600. Earlier issue Earnhardt during the Lumina era (this is the one I need to match my cars ) with a Peterbilt 359 tractor: John Force with Kenworth K100 Aerodyne cabover tractor: I also got a laugh out of the Kyle Petty rig, the pic on the box top of the actual rig is an International 9400, and I just find it very funny Monogram tried to make the Kenworth T600 look like an International! My biggest laugh is the "window" stickers for what are actually windows in the sleeper of the real International 9400 (I should know, I've driven a few in my day) that are on nothing but an air fairing the way the T600 kit is done, Also, another interesting side note resulting from all this truck talk, I discovered looking for a pic of the Michael Andretti hauler, Monogram also offered a 1/32nd scale kit of the car for it as well, but forgot to save the pic of that box. I didn't come across any pics, but now I'm wondering if maybe there wasn't an "Oldsmobile" for the John Force hauler as well.
Edsel-Dan Posted June 15, 2016 Posted June 15, 2016 Since they did not offer the International I guess they took the T600 (Closest overal shape??)and made it "Look" the part That does Not surprise me!! Not sure if they offered other Indy/Cart cars, but likely the only difference would have been Decals Also, unlike now, there were differences between Chevy teams (Or Ford--others) but in kit form only decals were different!!!
unclescott58 Posted June 15, 2016 Posted June 15, 2016 I had the Davey Allison transport truck you guys were talking about. I wonder what I did with it? I think it got lost or damaged in a move. I wish I had it today.
Tom Geiger Posted June 15, 2016 Posted June 15, 2016 A few years ago (I took this photo in 2010) a few of them came out in this series... I also had the GTO
Edsel-Dan Posted June 16, 2016 Posted June 16, 2016 There were 6 kits in this series It was done a few times. I also have a few in the "Winter-Chill" version The 6 kits were the 34 Ford (Former ZZ Top Coupe) 55 Chevy, 68 GTO, 69 Camaro, Z-28 (as shown above), 70 Mustang Mach-1, and 78 Corvette. I have SEVERAL of All 6!!!! Here are the 6 of the series; Many were also done in Spy Gadget, and Cyborg/Cyber version Color of car was bigest difference between series/version The 70 Mustang is Blue in the Halloween series, and White in the Winter Chill
