fairlane1320 Posted July 18, 2016 Posted July 18, 2016 I've been on the hunt for some 1965 Mustang Fastbacks in 1/25. I think I already know the answer, but what scale is the Revell Germany fastback? The website says 1/25, the box says 1/24.
Snake45 Posted July 18, 2016 Posted July 18, 2016 It's 1/24.Unless someone has repopped the old AMT annual in resin, only way I know to get a 1/25 '65 Mustang FB is to combine the bodies of the AMT funny car with their '66 Coupe, and then convert it to '65. This would have been easier a couple weeks ago when Modelhaus was offering '65 grilles; with them gone, you'd have to source a '65 grille from elsewhere.Another possibility would be to find an affordable "distressed" '65 promo on eBay.Good luck with your quest.
afx Posted July 18, 2016 Posted July 18, 2016 (edited) Looking at the instructions it appears to be a re-box of the state side Revell Shelby GT350 kits. These kits are 1/24 scale. Edited July 18, 2016 by afx

It's funny you mention combining a funny fastback and a coupe. I just did exactly that to build an AFX version. Since I have decals to do at least six of the H&M cars, I'm looking into getting some resin bodies made as well. Thx for the info!
Snake45 Posted July 18, 2016 Posted July 18, 2016 Well, if you're building early funnies, at least you don't have to worry about correct and accurate body trim of the various sorts, so you got THAT going for you.Somebody does do resin bodies of the '66 Mustang funnies, but they're the longnose ones.
unclescott58 Posted July 19, 2016 Posted July 19, 2016 The scale of 1/24 doesn't bother me that much. The Revell '65 and '66 Mustang and Shelby GT350 kits, are great kits. I've been very happy with the ones I've gotten so far. I finish the '65 convertible a year or two ago. The '65 fastback is about half way done. And again, it looks very nice so far. I also have a '66 Shelby GT350 waiting. It looks very good too. Do not let the scale deter you from buying the Revell kit. They are very, very nice.
Can-Con Posted July 19, 2016 Posted July 19, 2016 Would it be possible for someone to post a side by side comparison pic with the Monogram fastback and the AMT 1/25 coupe? I don't have any of the Monogram fastbacks myself and would like to see just how much difference there is in size between them.

I don't have a pic but as you'd expect, the Monogram 1/24 is about 4% larger than the AMT 1/25. How much of a difference this makes, each of us will have to decide for ourselves.
Can-Con Posted July 19, 2016 Posted July 19, 2016 Thanks Ron. There really isn't that much difference is there?
unclescott58 Posted July 20, 2016 Posted July 20, 2016 Thanks Ron for posting the comparison between the two Mustangs. The difference is not as great as I would have expected. Nice to see.
