What kind of prices have you guys bought stuff for at garage sale and have any of you ever sold kits or die casts at garage sales?

Buy As cheap as possible

Never sold anything at a garage sale.

All Buyers are Cheap..

I have a load of 1/18 scale Die-cast I wish I could unload but there isn't much for buyers of used ones.

(I think)

I've not sold kits at a rummage or garage sale, but I've thought of it. I buy kits at sales when they turn up (rare) and I get them fairly cheap, about $3 per kit or less.

i know we have never sold a kit as that would be sacrilege and I cant remember us ever buying one from a yardsale. We try to go as often as we can though and let me tell ya we are comming into PCS (already starting to see moving trucks)season so people will be trying to sell what they dont want to take with them to their new duty station so maybe we will find some then.

Its usually easy to sell kits at yard sales if you want to get rid of them. but if you want to make money off them that is'nt the place to do it. people go to garage sales to get bargains.

my best garage sale find was a Monogram Ferrari 302 for $5

As another thought to garage sales: I often ask the folks putting on the sale if they have any models..most say no but some have brought out some nice "gems" for me. One elderly lady gave me a big 'ole box of her late husbands models because she didn't know what to do with them and hadn't thought about putting them out in the sale. It pays to ask nicely as I once scored three nice Tamiya kits for $3.00 each and they were brand new! Also, ask the yard/garage shoppers if they have seen any models because that can lead you in the right direction if you're out looking. With today's model prices it can't hurt to ask!

Never sold anything at a garage sale. It wasn't a garage sale, but my dad knew a guy through work that was selling off his kits. I managed to get 15 kits for $5.00/each. Around here, there is no such bargain to be had at a garage sale.

i hit as many garage sales as i can. however, ive never had much luck finging anything. i used to get lucky at estate sales, but since ebay there are too many profssional sellers out looking. afew yrs ago i almost got into a fistfight over abunch of kits i found at an estate sell. a couple took the box right out of my hands. unfortunatley, the woman had about 80 pounds on me and her hubby was even bigger. i went to the guy having the sell, he told me that they could have anything they wanted as they were going to donate the stuff to charity. few days later it all showed up on ebay. they got all most 3 grand for all the stuff. i sent them an email asking if they gave it all away, but never got a reply.

Sorry to hear that. I wouldn't have put up with that charity scam. I

'da kicked him in the you know whats! But sometimes it's better to let stuff like that go. If there were a bunch of people there, I would have made a huge scene (done that)

Hi, If you advertise it as a automotive collectable sale I think you will bring in better buyers than if you just put them in with all the rest of the garage sale stuff. I'm planning to have one this summer. Steve D.

Thanks guys, I've been thinking about selling most of my collection when Mom has a garage sale in the next couple months. Been thinking about sticking a buck or two on most if not all of what I put out there for plastic, noty too sure what I'll do about the die casts.
