cobraman Posted August 21, 2016 Posted August 21, 2016 Had another dragster kit from the Revell Tony Nancy double kit after doing the Corvair fuel coupe so.... I built the dragster up and decided it needed a body. Enter the body from the AMT 32 Ford Phaeton kit. Not sure where this is going if anywhere. Going to be some cutting going on and I have covered the entire interior with sheet plastic and spread some putty. It will need to be cut out for the drivers compartment at some point. Just another silly build.
bobthehobbyguy Posted August 21, 2016 Posted August 21, 2016 Looks interesting. Looking forward to seeing what you do with this.
cobraman Posted August 22, 2016 Author Posted August 22, 2016 Well Bob, depending on how this turns out you may not get to see what I do with it.
Crazy Ed Posted August 22, 2016 Posted August 22, 2016 Well Bob, depending on how this turns out you may not get to see what I do with it. Ray, Ya leaving yourself the Option for the Ultimate Custom Tools and Frustration Reliever huh?
cobraman Posted August 22, 2016 Author Posted August 22, 2016 Did some work on this "thing". Lots more to do but for good or bad I think I got it on the run.
Ace-Garageguy Posted August 22, 2016 Posted August 22, 2016 I can see where you're headed and like it. Probably the only phaeton altered ever built.
cobraman Posted August 22, 2016 Author Posted August 22, 2016 I can see where you're headed and like it. Probably the only phaeton altered ever built. I think there is a reason for that Bill ! : )
bobthehobbyguy Posted August 23, 2016 Posted August 23, 2016 Looks interesting. Watching to see what you do next.
cobraman Posted August 26, 2016 Author Posted August 26, 2016 A little more work done. More still needs to be done as you can see.
cobraman Posted August 26, 2016 Author Posted August 26, 2016 I'm going to finish it but truthfully I am not digging it. Different than what I saw in my minds eye. Maybe with paint on it I will like it more.
Davewilly Posted August 26, 2016 Posted August 26, 2016 hey Ray It might look better with a longer nose....maybe set the radiator surround just in front of the tank.....and maybe with ti up there add a little more rake to it..or channel the radiator over the frame to get the rake.....Either way I like what your doing with it...Its cool and different.

cobraman Posted August 26, 2016 Author Posted August 26, 2016 Not sure about red Gene, it's got a blue frame. Not sure how that would look. Actually I have not decided on a color.
JTalmage Posted August 26, 2016 Posted August 26, 2016 Oh man. I really dig this thing. It's soo wrong it's right. IF I may offer my opinions, take them or leave them.... Once you get the bodywork done. I think rescribing the body lines will really make it look good again. I would cut out the "backing" of the grille shell, and get a photoetched grill for it. It's only fitting. I also think in my opinion, that it needs to be painted a high flake blue, with a pearl clear, a 'chute on the back, and gold leaf decals for it's name of exacting what you called it... "The Thing" which I believe is a perfect name for it. I really think it has potential to be wild. One other thing I would change about it, would be to heat, and turn the pieces hanging down in front of the rear tires, to give it a faring look to it for aerodynamics. I can already envision it and it makes me happy inside!
cobraman Posted August 26, 2016 Author Posted August 26, 2016 All good ideas but I'm getting sick of working on this thing.
slusher Posted August 27, 2016 Posted August 27, 2016 All good ideas but I'm getting sick of working on this thing. Been there Ray, we all have but you close.
cobraman Posted August 27, 2016 Author Posted August 27, 2016 Painted and put on some decals. Still needs to be cleared. The body work could have been better, much better. Don't tell anyone but a couple decals are covering boo boo's. : )
Ace-Garageguy Posted August 28, 2016 Posted August 28, 2016 That;s pretty slick, man. Sorta a phaeton phunny car.
