disconovaman Posted September 14, 2016 Posted September 14, 2016 I found this old build-up in my brother's barn ( the trumpeter chevy II) and desided it needs gasser treatment. It probably wont be this dramatic with the poked out slicks and maybe not quite that high. It's gonna be two toned for sure. I will be leaving the stock wheel wells in tact also in case someone else wants to reimagine it years from now. I cant count the times I've gotten old builds and thought "man, I wished he hadn't done that to it" Anyway I'm in the process of taking if from old to new agian. Enjoy the build and thanks for stopping by.. Attached is a picture of what I'm shooting for...
mustang1989 Posted September 14, 2016 Posted September 14, 2016 (edited) That'll look great. I didn't know Trumpeter did a Chevy II Edited September 14, 2016 by mustang1989
DumpyDan Posted September 14, 2016 Posted September 14, 2016 Looks good, I appreciate that you didn't cut the wheel wells of my future model.
Dogfish_7 Posted September 14, 2016 Posted September 14, 2016 That'll look great. I didn't know Trumpeter did a Chevy IIThey also made a convertible.
disconovaman Posted September 23, 2016 Author Posted September 23, 2016 I've been busy with another project and finally took some time to get some paint on my gasser. It didn't turn out as well as I'd hoped and I may wash off the paint and start agian. Or move forward? Who knows... here's a pic anyway...
Snake45 Posted September 23, 2016 Posted September 23, 2016 (edited) Looks kinda like the one Hot Rod magazine built up a few years ago. What's the orange paint? I like the color. Edited September 23, 2016 by Snake45
superbike-shaun Posted September 23, 2016 Posted September 23, 2016 Hey,I'm digging the orange, but, here's my veiwpoint, I would do a two tone, if i was building a semi pro or sponsored car w more than a few DECALS otherwise do it in a single color, privateer style! It looks cool though!
disconovaman Posted September 24, 2016 Author Posted September 24, 2016 Testors one shot lacquer flaming orange, but what I did was put a base coat of competition orange. The Wilshire Shaker is what came to mind but my dad raced a 63 chevy II with this exact paint scheme. His car was a dirt track car with the number 28 on the door. He had a monkey holding a wrench with "Grease monkey" painted on the thunk. Dad started having bad luck with it and he thought that monkey was the cause, being superstitious he painted over it about mid season. I want to create and print my own decals and call the car "the Grease Monkey" paying tribute to my dad's old stock car.
