KJ790 Posted October 6, 2016 Posted October 6, 2016 (edited) I bought this glue bomb 40' great dane reefer trailer at a show a couple years ago. It has sat on a box ever since, waiting to find a purpose. I was so pleased with how the ribbed sides and HVAC tape looked on my scratchbuilt trailer, I decided to rebuild this one and give it the same treatment.I broke it mostly apart and cut the bottom rails off of the sides. I used smooth styrene sheet to make a faux side that the ribbed styrene will be glued to. Here is a ribbed side mocked up.I accidentally broke the kit roof into pieces while trying to get the trailer apart, so I will have to scratch build that. More to come soon. trick my mixer Posted October 7, 2016 Posted October 7, 2016 Nice save Kurt, and especially for being patient. Projects like this sometimes end up going air born... know what I mean...Looking forward to finished product
extmcdriver Posted October 12, 2016 Posted October 12, 2016 I am sure this will turn out like the rest of your work, GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!
KJ790 Posted October 22, 2016 Author Posted October 22, 2016 Been making some progress. I have the sides done and worked on detailing the front today. I still need to make a roof for it.
KJ790 Posted October 23, 2016 Author Posted October 23, 2016 And the finished product. It has a few flaws, but compared to where it started I am happy.
Jim B Posted October 23, 2016 Posted October 23, 2016 Looks really nice, KJ. I like it behind the K100.
landman Posted October 24, 2016 Posted October 24, 2016 Really nice KJ. How did you "smoke" the upper corners?
KJ790 Posted October 24, 2016 Author Posted October 24, 2016 Thanks guys! Pat, for the exhaust soot on the corners I just lightly airbrush some black paint on the corners and down each corner of the roof a bit. I have found that it is really easy to over-do it though. It seems like less is more for that technique.
gatorincebu Posted October 24, 2016 Posted October 24, 2016 Kurt, Great save, excellent job. It looks great ! Be Well Gator
