Randy D Posted March 22, 2017 Posted March 22, 2017 Hi Dave, This is just OUTSTANDING !!!!! The engine detail looks great and the paint / body work are really paying off. Randy
Davewilly Posted March 22, 2017 Author Posted March 22, 2017 Thanks Randy! Its not perfect but I l have learned a few things to do differently for the next time I build one of these kits. Its not all that bad..but I think next time I will try a straight tube axle for a little higher ride. and might try to make my own headers so they will fit better...but I like how its turning out so far.
Davewilly Posted March 22, 2017 Author Posted March 22, 2017 little more done at lunch today...fuel tank installed and also the master cylinder...I just have to get the lines into the PV on the frame rail...Made a MC lid hold down also.
comp1839 Posted March 22, 2017 Posted March 22, 2017 ohhh, my. she looks good all letter'd up, dave!!!!! pumbing is looking really good too.
Mooneyzs Posted March 22, 2017 Posted March 22, 2017 Dave... Looking great. I love the choice for the sponsor on the door. Love how it pops with the green. Keep up the great work
Davewilly Posted March 23, 2017 Author Posted March 23, 2017 Dave & Chris Thanks! Going to try today to get the brake lines hooked up and then do some paint touch upon the engine and chassis before I forget to do it! But its coming out ok for not building it at home where all my stuff is at! lol
gasser59 Posted March 23, 2017 Posted March 23, 2017 This is really progressing nicely Dave, especially for an office build.
Codi Posted March 23, 2017 Posted March 23, 2017 The colors you chose for the build really "pop". The accent colors of the decals & headers complement it too. cheers, tim
Davewilly Posted March 23, 2017 Author Posted March 23, 2017 Brad...Thank you ....not much different from the bench..except better light and more supplies at the bench..lolTim....Thank you!The Decals just came with the kit...a few choices they give you...I just went with what I thought would go with the green..and I have always liked white headers on the 1:1 cars.....They just dont stay white for long is all.
Davewilly Posted March 29, 2017 Author Posted March 29, 2017 Well I think I am done!....Just have to add the tail lights. Still not happy with how the hood fits..It was fitting betteron the drivers side but once bed and cab were glued in place it didnt line up as well as it had been. Other than that I like how it turned out. Thanks for looking and thanks for following along with the build!
Davewilly Posted March 29, 2017 Author Posted March 29, 2017 a couple more pictures in a little better light
Codi Posted March 30, 2017 Posted March 30, 2017 That turned out really nice Dave. Your weathering techniques & abilities are really good. The shots of the bottom of the chassis are something you're going to have to be sure to exhibit, mirror beneath I'm thinking. Nice! cheers
Davewilly Posted March 30, 2017 Author Posted March 30, 2017 Tim Thanks a lot for the comments! Had fun building it.
Randy D Posted March 30, 2017 Posted March 30, 2017 Hi Dave, Really like that slightly weathered look!!!! Good choices on those decals Sir. Congrats on a fine looking model, hopefully I will see it on the tables next week.Randy
Danno Posted March 31, 2017 Posted March 31, 2017 It's looking GREAT, Dave! I'm looking forward to seeing it LIVE at DSC!
mr68gts Posted March 31, 2017 Posted March 31, 2017 Very nicely done! The color really looks good on that body, especially with the decals in place! The fact that it was built at work is pretty cool too. I too build some at work. Mostly chassis building but it keeps my mind occupied while I am bored at work.Paul
Davewilly Posted March 31, 2017 Author Posted March 31, 2017 Randy: Thanks very much sir! I am planning on bring it to the DCS unless something last minute stops me...but its the planDan: It should be there!Paul: Thank you...It was really not to clear coat the paint and see it all shinny....but I was going for a older barn kept under a cover for 40 years look....Like no one knew/forgot Grandpa had it hid in the barn...and hey gave it to little Johnny in his will...lol Yeah I get an hour for lunch and usually dont go anywhere and I get here early so it was a good way to use my time.... Now that its done I am starting on one of the 70-73 Ford Bronco kits...Should be fun
PARTSMARTY Posted March 31, 2017 Posted March 31, 2017 (edited) Originalitry rules and your ideas are awesome-looks great !!! Edited March 31, 2017 by PARTSMARTY

gasser59 Posted April 5, 2017 Posted April 5, 2017 (edited) That really looks great Dave. I'd be proud to display this one. Like Paul said, the green just looks so right on this body. Will we be seeing this on the table this Saturday? Edited April 5, 2017 by gasser59
