DrKerry Posted November 8, 2016 Posted November 8, 2016 4:00 am in the morning, it's dark outside and we're wearing our sunglasses!!!! Well I may not be wearing sun glasses but the rest is true. Too dark outside to take pics so these will have to do for no!!!!!!! Just finished this up tonight, 56 that has seen a few demos. Lost his driveshaft so it put him out and broke his stick!!!!!
Spex84 Posted November 9, 2016 Posted November 9, 2016 Neato, haha. My first thought is "who demos a '56 Chevy???" but a few years ago somebody put a '57 in a derby not too far from where I live...I didn't see in in person, but found the youtube video later. Poor thing got taken out in about 2 hits.

CometMan Posted November 10, 2016 Posted November 10, 2016 That is really cool, Kerry! Did you have to go through concussion protocol?!
DrKerry Posted November 10, 2016 Author Posted November 10, 2016 LOL Craig, no helmets were damaged in the making of this shortened 56!!!!!!
Tom Geiger Posted November 11, 2016 Posted November 11, 2016 (edited) Yea, I was thinking Kerry was filthy rich to demo a Nomad! I was involved in the demo back in the 1980s and saw a lot of interesting cars go into the rink. The story was always the same, they had the car and tried to sell it for something like a year with no takers and needed to get the car off their property. Cars like tri-five Chevys were usually complete rust bucket 4 door sedans that had already been raided for parts. I remember one of these literally coming off the chassis during the demo heat! I once took a 1973 Cougar to the demo. It was a car my friend needed gone, and had engine issues, electrical issues and the upper surfaces (roof and trunk lid) were solid rust where the yellow paint had flaked off. I knew a guy who had a like car and gave him access to all the trim parts. This was in the 1980s so it was just a 10 year old heap at the time. Edited November 11, 2016 by Tom Geiger
DrKerry Posted November 12, 2016 Author Posted November 12, 2016 Got that right Tom!!! That or it was a car in a salvage yard without a title and was going to get crushed or take your pick... I've seen Gremlins, Mavericks, an old 50 Chevy, 77 Firebird, and countless others!!! KrAzIe I tell ya!!!!!
progplastic Posted November 22, 2016 Posted November 22, 2016 Very Cool build Kerry. I know they are only plastic, but I'm sure it was hard to bend up a classic Chebby..My Dad used to do the demo's back in the 80s and early 90s.. He once ran a '69 Satellite 2 door w / 383ci 4 speed.. He won two heats and came in second in the final with it.I'm still mad he killed that car. the Emblems are still on the wall in my "toy" room.
Snake45 Posted November 22, 2016 Posted November 22, 2016 Wow, it took a lot of damage before it even wore the molding seams off the tires!
